I don't think we have a new starter, this year anyway. But, I do think Singletary gets fewer touches, which will benefit him better and he works better in a committee, he has never been a volume hog.

Next year I could maybe see Tracy taking over a bit more.

Tracy provides ball security.  Something his running mates struggles with.


I am not sure the Giants win yesterday if Singletary was healthy

Personally, I don't care who starts but Singletary and Tracy need to get 99% of the snaps. How they split it up machs nicht.

Certainly looks like Tracy will get a lot more opportunities moving forward....Nabers injury might have been a blessing for the team and Daboll.

I said last week one of my criticisms of Dabol was that he was not using all of his talent on the team i.e. the TE, Tracy , Gray etc.
yesterday without Nabers and Singletary the coach was forced to use all of the above.... game planned for them and brought back the best Giant WR the last few years....Slayton .  before yesterday the game plan seemed focussed on Nabors ....period ... and limited them using all players. Yesterday was fun to watch (until Genos 50 yd run ) the offense actually looked like a real offense ...controlling and moving the ball all over the field.
kudos to the Coach for yesterdays game plan and a real big shout out to the special team coach that designed the play resulting in Simmons FG block ....

I do not know, but I will say it was very nice to have a player step in for an injured player and rise to the occasion.  That has not been the norm and it was a welcome change. 

Depth looking to prove themselves, is a nice situation to be in.

To your point Rich, and tiki referenced it - they gotta learn where to place the ball. Also I saw a highlight of tiki yesterday during the game where he switched the ball to his other arm while running. We need more of this. Coughlin taught it so I wanna see Daboll give him a call and ask for advice or help on this

That's what bothers me about Gray and Singletary. Their ball security issues are mostly mental errors (failure to have the ball in the correct hand or not keeping it high and tight).


I remember watching Tracy keeping both hands on the ball late in the game as he navigated through difficult traffic knowing a fumble at that stage would be a killer.

The thing that really jumps out is that many times when the intended Gap was closed, he instantly changed direction until he negotiated his way open. There was at least one run where it appeared he faked an inside run to hit it outside even when that appeared open. This isn't something we have seen since Tiki or Bradshaw. Singletary "almost" broke several runs in first few games.

Kid played great. So did Gray early on.

They definitely showed improvement yesterday. Still some things to clean up, but watching 76 pull out to lead block for Tracy made me smile. I could almost sense Vince Lombardi's approval, if only for a few seconds.

Daboll was noncommittal, though, when asked if the performance put Tracy in consideration to at least split more carries with Singletary once the sixth-year back is healthy enough to play again. Singletary was averaging 3.9 yards per carry through the first four games.

"He had a nice game," Daboll said. "I think we just take it day by day, week by week, see what we're doing and what the game plan is for the opponent that we're about to play. But we expect all our players to be ready and perform when their number is called."
