There is hope 

It is sort of interesting to read what other players say about each other. I wonder how much of it is just rehashed  stuff from a scouting report or how much is based on genuine and sincere observations while playing in a game . If I had to guess it's 50/50. I mean I hardly think of  Burrow as a gunslinger. Was that from an LSU scouting report or something? Maybe that was writer embellishing on that but, the rest reads like it.

Ah yes, hope. Giants fans long-serving operative word again breathing life. How's that for a mixed metaphor? Still, there are some favorable glimmers including not only a Defense which thus far has been "markedly better than in the past two seasons under former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, who came here hyped as an aggressive blitz master and left with his defense having allowed far too many big plays", but also greatly improved pass protection by the Oline.

That, plus perhaps a further improvement in the running game, will allow us to continue to hope for the next 3 of 4 Home games: Bengals(SNF), Eagles, Commanders, and an Away against the Steelers. That should tell us a lot more, maybe all we need to know.

Maybe the best thing about this season is the improved coaching staff with Bowen and Bricillo.  That may be our MVP.  Let's hope our staff is coming together in a way like Parcells staffs did in the mid-late 1980s.

Schoen would like a word in the MVP discussion.  He brought those guys in, along with the new right side of the OL, didn't force Neal into the lineup just because he picked him high, and at least to this point knocked the draft out of the park.  A lot can happen between now and the end of the season but let's recognize the job he's doing because he inherited an unholy mess from Gettleman.

Take the opening loss to the Vikings, and our defense ranks better than the 11th best in the league. And we lead the league in sacks...whodathunkit?

The front line has been playing great and the backside is getting their act together. I'd like to see Banks take the next step, and I'm a little worried after losing KT. Maybe Ojulari will step up in his place...and stays healthy.

The job he was doing prior to this season was subpar.  IMHO, what he's dine lately has brought him up to the mean.

I strongly disagree. Hard Knocks exposed Daboll as being aloof and only caring about his 40 time and Schoen didn't show any vision for the organization nor did his underlings. They just seemed to be winging the entire operation. Lombardi was clearly onto something. 

Taking nothing away from the Defense, the time of possession by the Giants Offense has helped their totals as well. The term "complimentary football" always seems like a fantasy until you actually see it. I think the play of the Offensive line and the front seven on Defense and it is bringing back memories of the glory days of Giants football in the '80s. I wouldn't try to single out a person as an MVP. There are several reasons, from the Burns trade and those involved with it, to the Free agent additions to the Offensive Line in the offseason, and numerous backups stepping up in preseason to perform at a high level. From rotational players, up through the coaches and the GM, the pieces are working. I dare say it looks like a team.

In Schien's first, a crappy team went to the playoffs and won a game.  He inherited a crappy team and made it marginally better thru Daboll, his HC choice.  It also helped that the ball bounced right.  The 2nd year was a little deceiving.  They were still a crappy team but with Daboll not having a great year, especially the start but the injuries.  I also think the 1st year success changed 2nd year planning negatively i.e. Waller signing.  I think this year had a more balanced smarter approach to drafting, free agent signing and new coaches.  I think Schoen and Daboll sre ascending and hopefully the team record will as well.  Keep in mind these guys were new at their jobs when hired and sometimes it takes time.  I am encouraged

I'm getting high on the euphoria around here.  It is better than negitivism though.

He failed on Neal and has at best a mediocre Thibs.  He failed on Eze and McKethan.  He signed DJ to a massive contract.  His early FA signings were unimpressive.  Until 2024 his drafted mid-late round players have done nothing.  This is the stuff he's responsible for.
