He's had foot issues since Georgia. Had foot surgery in the NFL offseason at least twice. Going to be a factor the rest of his career.

Yeah. He talked about the ankle injures as something on his mind when he signed his extension.

This is devastating. Game over. Now they have to consider benching Jones with his injury clause. It's another lost regime..start over with pieces you have .I'm sick of this terrible football.

Great... a Lisfranc injury... One of the worst you can have on your foot.

And it's doubtful how AT will recover from it, because if there is one injury you don't want to have it's this one.

Actually, check out this study of NFL lisfranc injuries. I'll highlight the conclusions I think are helpful here:

QuoteAnalysis of pre- and postinjury athletic performance revealed no statistically significant changes after return to sport after Lisfranc injury... Offensive and defensive players experienced a decrease in performance after return from injury that did not reach statistical significance compared with their respective control groups over a similar time period.

Surprising to see, honestly. I think they even note its an unexpected outcome in the study itself.

The Giants led the league in injuries for five years in a row under the DG regime. This Franchise is truly snake bitten. It's hard to win consistently with backups especially at key positions like left tackle.

I'm glad you took the time to post the above and I hope you had the opportunity to consider my testimony of my wife's journey with her fall and path to getting back on the running trails again.

She is now roughly six or seven months past her final PT session and has been on and off her running (i.e. traditional "pounding the pavement"). She's been more active lately and lost some weight to not only look hot, but also train harder and longer. My point is that the Lisfranc has held up very well during this time although she experiences more issues with her tibia more so than any of her other fracture points. So, her personal experience is in alignment with what your sources concluded, for the most part.

The only question I have for Andrew Thomas, though, is if he plans to drop a few pounds to support his comeback. In his case, that might be helpful for him in taking a little stress off that healed Lisfranc. He will have a considerable rehab program ahead of him to get back to his normal level of performance!

Again, I wish him all the very best on his return.

Peace!

Giants are 2-4 on the year and have been one of the most healthy teams in the NFL. This certainly illustrates why it's so important to win games when they are within reach.

Crap.
Disappointed for the guy but it strikes me he's losing/has lost a lot of time to injuries.
Jeez, one thing after another.

Ted,

At what point can it no longer be attributed to simple bad luck and a red flag that something is broken in the process? I'm not speaking specifically of Thomas, but to the disturbing metrics of missed games due to injury that has plagued the team for more than a decade.

Take it a step further, two of the best Giants' players (i.e. Nabers, Thomas) were victims of the Sardine Can Turf Monster. The purported "safer" field turf choice but the injuries are being incurred in their own ball park.

Why is that???

We've had this discussion before, and we'll have it again. But it really is starting to get very old.

It's in the data. USE IT, Giants' Analytics team!!!

Peace!

As I have my 1987 S&S with Phil Simms on the front cover in my home office library; one of my favorite "antiques," you might say!

Peace!
