Another game where we played like you know what. Our 'once' better OL crumbled like a house of cards without their leader and Jones was under duress most of the game.

Here is where I take exception to some of the other posters who blame Jones for everything, though he was a big cause. He was sacked 8 times and under pressure for many more. He really seemed to be waiting for plays to develop. Why wasn't the offensive game plan adjusted to meet this need, at least to get the ball out much, much quicker? Come on Daboll is calling the plays, he knows his QB is taking a beating, and doesn't have the time to throw, yet it sure seemed to me Jones drops back and waits for the play to develop and time runs out, down he goes and we all blame him. He needs to get rid of the ball in 2 seconds if the line is in trouble and Daboll seemed not to notice this and called for deeper plays which need time to develop.

Also, has Daboll ever heard of a screen pass that might work great against a big rush?

As much as I blame Jones, I also blame Daboll for just a horrible game plan and no adjustments.

I've posted a couple of times.  Both are incompetent.  Daboll's play calling is atrocious.

You can give Daboll, Mahomes and he would still suck. Have you guys noticed he left and Allen is still doing Allen things, it wasn't because of Daboll. He coaches scared and it reflects on the team. Giants are unprepared to play. They don't know how to get players involved. Slayton and Robinson are trash they drop ball again and again. The play calling is trash.
Daboll is not head coach material he is an assistant at best. We took the wrong Brian. Daboll has been trash since that 7-2 start. They get a little bit of adversity and they fold like a house of cards. Can we get a real damn coach no more new guys we need coaches with a winning history.

And Brady was still doing Brady things without BB, Payton was Payton without Tony D, Kirk Cousins is on how many coaches now? He's still the same QB. I could literally go on and on.  I've been making this statement for multiple seasons now: a QB is more important to a HC, than the latter is to the former.  I'm not suggesting the coaches I highlighted aren't good at thier jobs; instead, I'm suggesting NO HC is going to have consistent success without a quality QB, especially in the modern era.

But isn't the coach/OC's job to put that said QB in the best position to succeed? Make game-time adjustments to what is going on on the field.

I'm out of excuses for Daboll. He can't call plays, and he tethered himself to a coach-killer quarterback when he didn't have to. Ready to move on.

You are asking the chef to make a delicious meal out of horse manure.  Can't be done.

I wonder what % of his playbook Daboll feels comfortable using with this offense.

Not much with this QB. Opponents are not even worried about defending 20 yards downfield because they know Jones can't connect.

Messiah717

If the Giants offensive playbook is reduced to this because of Jones then there's no other reason needed to bench his ass.

Not to pile on, well yes to pile on, he has literally completed 6 passes ALL SEASON of 20 yards or more.

Lenn, I would start with the strategy of just four RB attempts in the first half, knowing the Eagles would key in on the loss of Andrew Thomas. There were errant throws that will go down as drops and drops that were drops. There were sacks that were the result of Jones just not getting rid of the ball or failing to deploy a timely pass to an open receiver. I'm not a fan as I've now said for the third time of RB rotation. He just should have gone with the hot hand Tracy and spelled him when he got winded. When the game got away from him, Daboll had to play catchup, and those plays you didn't see develop, needed to be thrown at times with anticipation. It wasn't a well called game but there's plenty of blame to go around, imo.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

If it was as easy as described, QBs wouldn't make as much as they do.

It appears as if some here believe QBs are merely victims of their circumstances and basically exercise no agency of their own. I can't understand that. It's the most important position in sports (generally!) for a reason, because they can take a game which is so team-driven and change the calculus.

The coach is trash people open your eyes there are not adjustments has no planning and no clue what he is doing. He looks absolutely in over his head. Anyways my plan is coming to fruition one step at a time.
