It sounds like Jones was benched.

He wasn't pulled because the game was out of reach. It was to create a spark, which the Giants didn't have with him.

Daboll said: "We made a change in the fourth quarter when it was 28-3 — we had 100 yards — just to create a spark,"

I absolutely call what happened with Jones today a benching. He was completely ineffective, his team was losing, and he was taken out of the game for a replacement despite being healthy. That's a benching in my book.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean in carries over to next week.  Lock was terrible too.

DaveBrown74

For sure. It won't carry to next week. Jones will start next week. But he was clearly benched today.

Legit question. Who performed worse, Jones or Dave Brown? We just don't cut ties with mediocre players as quickly as other teams do. At times, patience is warranted but others, nonsensical.

But with no Andrew Thomas,Jones is an injury clause surer than Santa Claus to happen, screwing the cap for the next regime. Team needs an intervention a la 1978  badly!!!

And a can of gasoline to go with it.

This is a good question. Brown probably had a better OL and had a great RB in Hampton like Jones had with Barkley. But once Mike Sherrard and Mark Jackson left or got injured he was left with Chris Calloway, the useless Thomas Lewis and a few block first tight ends. George Young never valued the WR position.

If I had to make a choice I would say Jones has more raw talent than Brown ever did. Brown sat for 2 seasons while Jones sat for 2 games but that was also because Hoss and Simms were playing at a much higher level than 38 year old Eli (duck and cover!). Similar to Jones, Brown had little competition. Tommy Maddox wasn't stealing his job. Finally Danny Kannell proved he could at least win games and Brown was down forever.

Lock is wreckless and honestly worse than DJ

I want Devito for the rest of the season

Funny, Cutlets reminds me of a poor man's Kannell. We should end the Jones experience now and be done with it. Again, this is not all his fault but time to turn the page. And Lock? Wow, bad signing

I'd love to know if Lock was a Daboll move or a Schoen move?

wanted him is not too good at evaluating because after what we saw in preseason and today, the guy isn't too good

Bench DJ finds out Lock plays even worse in the same environment.

DJ-  QB Rating- 77.3  QBR- 16.6

It has become essential though in my opinion it was in 2024 and they went WR instead of QB. There were three first rounders available when they drafted. Nabors is a talent, but useless without a QB. The Cart before the Horse. Something like that. Now they are pressed to find a solution at QB and will maybe end up with a lesser talent than they could have had in 2024. Stupid planning from the beginning of the Schoen era. You don't come in and rebuild without a QB plan. And if their plan was Jones, they just can't evaluate QB talent.
