Big Blue Huddle

Before the Eagles game the Giants seemed to be showing steady improvement. I don't know what to think of the Steelers game. I would bet the Steelers will not drop this one at home, but it feels like a 50-50 game. I think the Giants will avenge their close loss to Washington and are probably 5-6 going into Dallas for Thanksgiving, with the Cowboys having a similar record, and the Saints coming to the Meadowlands/Metlife the following week.

I know there is a lot of gloom and doom right now but I'm not feeling it. This team is getting better and there are winnable games down the stretch to finish around 0.500.

I don't see this game as a 50-50.  Steelers have one of the best defenses in the NFL and the Giants have mustered just 10 points in 2 weeks against weaker defenses.

Throw in both starting tackles being and out and I see it more like 80-20.

If the Giants got to 6-6 I'd be feeling great actually. That would mean a 4-1 record from here and a team that is very much in the playoff discussion as we press towards December. Considering that feels like a pipe dream right now, especially after the Thomas in jury, I'd be feeling good about things if that happened.

Fair, but they were undermanned against Seattle on the road too and they pretty much dominated that game. Again, I think the Steelers will win.

I'd feel like we won ourselves out if contention for a QB and have tonwait yet another year to rip off the bandaid

My goal as a fan is to be drafting with one of the last 10 picks every year. There are QBs starting all over the league who were drafted after the top 10 picks, and another host of QBs who WERE drafted high, only to be released, traded, or benched by their team. If the Giants want a top QB, they can go get one without trading picks or tanking the season to get and use a top 10 pick. That's what Tampa Bay, Seattle, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco, Green Bay, Detroit, and other teams have done.

Same I feel if they were 2-10
Need to continue build line and get a qb

If we are a 6-6 team with a QB finally playing top 10 I'd be thrilled.  If we are 6-6 because of lucky bounces but still poor QB play mo I wont be happy.  I want foundational pieces (QB), good OL, D for long term excellence.

I am happy and feel good with every Giants win and quite the opposite with every loss. Thus, I will be four times happier than not should they win 4 of their next 5 games. Should that occur, I will no doubt feel encouraged about their chances and mine that they may beat the Vegas 6.5 Win O/U. That will be pleasing indeed but, as a Giants fan, I won't be any less cautious in my thinking/guessing/projecting about where to now from here to there.

That's nothing more than false happiness like 2018 when folks thought the Giants OL was fine but if you really looked at it, the OL was a house of cards.  In 2019, complete OL collapse.

Wins without improved play and say lucky bounces is just another house of cards.

I can't imagine the Giants winning this week against the Steelers. Let's see how long Eluemunor holds up, who says he's playing. Coming off last week's loss, it's hard to see them coming back against a very good team.

I'd feel like I was dreaming and would never want to wake up. Right now we are living a nightmare and I am awake.

I assume that you see it much the way I do, Joseph and not of me engaging in any so called "false happiness" No one who has been a Giants fan for as long as I have could be so artless and naive.

Folks got all excited in 2022 when we made the playoffs but if you really looked how dominant were we?  QB play was a bit better but in my mind the two lucky things the Giants got in 2022 were some lucky end of game things that usually never happen with them plus their injuries were down, another thing they normally do not experience.  House of cards if you ask me.

Give me a good, consistent D, an ability to run and stop the run and I'll bet that's a pretty good foundation to win year in and out with key injuries or something else odd only to block it.

That's why I won't believe it they are on the right path until I see those things.

To answer the OP question, I would be pretty darn happy if the team went 4-1 over the next 5. That would mean meaningful football in December.

While it's not impossible I don't see it as very likely.
