I thought the line played OK. The play calling in the first half was pretty good. I do fault him for going away from what was working and not calling plays to take advantage of the aggressiveness of Watt and Hightower.

I hated the 2-point attempt and that stupid ass play choice.

I don't have a problem with benching Banks. Something is up with him.

Throwing Jones under the bus is a message to Mara that he's sick and tired of trotting that dude out there. So am I.

Not all penalities are on the coach, but the sort of procedural penalties the Giants were racking up are the type that are on the coach

Frankly, the guy is just a buffoon.  The ridiculous yelling and slamming headsets.  Going for two when they didn't have to and on top of that with some moronic formation that failed miserably.

When the head coach loses it during the game, who exactly is in charge?  This is hardly a one-off; this was an issue that was more than apparent last season (and was even called out by Wink Martindale in a subtle manner, as well as by other former NFL people)

The illegal shift/procedure penalties are, IMO, on the QB and players involved. Players were not set when the ball was snapped.

I do feel like the refs were quick with the whistle, especially on the DOG calls. Seems like they were spinning a wheel with all of the Giants numbers on it.

The well-coached Steelers had less than half the penalties with 5

The Steelers had a QB who threw accurate passes and protected the ball.

Has Daboll commented on why he benched Banks. Was it one play? Was it effort? Was it just from this game or did the previous one factor in? Cheer it on but neither Phillips or McCloud could stop Pickens when we needed someone to and then a ST receiver named Austin scores a big TD on a pass play. Yay we sent a message but lost a winable game.

I'll also mention that Game #1 both this season and last this team was nowhere near ready to compete, getting blown out and embarrassed both times. I wasn't expecting wins, but at least have your team prepared.
Instead the Giants started the last two seasons with soul crushing defeats, setting the mood for the rest of the season.
That lies with the Head Coach.

I think 11 offensive penalties speaks to some issue with coaching.

This is one of the areas I have an issue with Daboll as HC.

It's tough to take on play calling while being the HC

It is tough. I do think he's called better games than Kafka did.

Giant Obsession

Is it a crime to tell the press Banks got benched just like any player gets benched when he is not getting the job done.

Are players SO fragile they can not accept criticism.

Another reason we will only win 3 games this year.

Wasn't many of users on this board demanding Banks get benched all week?

Troy Aikman praised Daboll's work this year (I believe he called it "amazing," but can't recall perfectly) despite having one of the worst scoring offenses. In the same game, he calls out Jones's inability to throw with anticipation, using the Slayton hole shot on the left side of the field as an example (a late throw that got Slayton whalloped). I think that tells you plenty about from whence the problems on this team stem.
