Apparently, they have been asking him to take a pay cut.  Told him today, he takes the cut or gets released.  He chose release.

Good for him. A contract is a contract. This is a horrible look for Schoen.

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

4 Aces

These are the little, less obvious things you see around the Giants that show a rotten foundation. They had to cut a versatile CB who is a good special teams player because they needed a few $$$ in cap space midseason (a 2-7 team), and had been hounding him for weeks about it. Some real wizards in financial operations.

"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Literally every team has these types of situations.

Not saying I agree with it, but this is not Schoen or Giants specific in that regard.

He is a solid player, would have liked to keep him.

He won't be out of work for long

I don't doubt it, can play solid anywhere in secondary and can contribute in ST, he may not be a game changer but thats some solid depth who can spot start.

T200

Why not ask Jones to restructure?

Because doing that ties him to them past this year.  Right now they can finally be rid of him without a penalty after this season provided he doesn't get hurt.  If they restructure that's going to add at least a year or dead cap money should they move on after the season.  It's yet another indication they want nothing more to do with him after this season is over.

Do you have a link or any proof that this is the case?
I couldn't find it.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.
