I have read some posters , not on this forum , say the Giants should sign a holdover QB next year and draft Arch Manning in 2026. Do people really think he is the second coming of Eli or Peyton ? He has played one full game against University Louisiana Monroe . Might he become a HOF QB who knows. But to wait until 2026 is totally foolish

I'm a believer based on what I have seen, but I recognize I'm just some guy with a TV and the internet who has an amateur opinion.

As for holding out to get him, that's kind of a silly plan because it makes it seem like the Giants can simply "get" Arch Manning if they want to, as if that is some straightforward thing.

I think the Giants should draft a QB this year if they like one enough to believe he is worth using their sure-to-be high first round pick on.

If the Giants don't like any of the QBs available to them in the upcoming draft, they should not draft a QB. They should instead sign a veteran free agent and revisit the position in the 2026 offseason. Who knows if they will be in a position to draft Arch or if they'll even want to?

The idea of waiting for Arch Manning assumes the draft is more of a supermarket (Arch Manning aisle 5) rather than what I see the draft as more part lottery and part auction where you don't know where you will draft over a year out and you don't know if any given player will be available to your team.

Exactly my thinking.

His pop-pop played for the Saints (they need a QB) one of his uncles played for the Colts (they need a QB) and then there's Eli's Giants. There's an attachment to all three and i dont see why the Giants would be the obvious choice.

If we learned anything from this year's draft, it should be that it's not always straightforward to just trade up and get your guy. If the team drafting first needs a QB and wants Arch, that pick will not be for sale.

And if it's for sale the cost will be literally eye-watering.

Maybe Cooper Manning will direct Arch to insist on only playing for the Giants, the way his Grandfather did with Eli.

That's not likely to happen for a whole lot of reasons starting with the cost, the teams and GMs involved and other alternatives for all concerned. And remember, Peyton wasn't made to holdout with the Colts.

Cheers!

I know; I was speaking almost entirely in jest.

He has played more than one full game, and in his appearances he's been more effective than Quinn Ewers who should be a first round pick this year if he comes out.

Just to clarify people including myself are mentioning waiting for 2026 class not just for Arch, there are a lot of really good and intriguing QB prospects like Nico Lamaleava, Lanorris Sellers, Jaden Rashada, Malachi Nelson, Dante Moore, and Avery Johnson.

So while Arch is likely the clickbait, the class in 2026 is significantly better than this upcoming class. Then you get Dylan Raiola, Austin Simmons etc in 2027.

I will submit my knowledge on college football prospects is well below most here; however, I'm not really enamored with any QB in this draft class.  In short, I agree that 2026 is the best year to secure our future; I'm ok with starting a 'Curtis Painter' type QB to ensure we get the best possible draft pick.

Exactly right!

What would be foolish, though, as the OP put it, would be to reach for subpar talent from the class of 2025 for the sake of immediacy. Isn't that exactly how we wound up with the past 6 years of failure?

TDToomer

There is no guarantee that Arch will come out early in 2026 with only 1 season as a starter. He had family money, NIL money, and his uncles both stayed in school until eligibility ran out. Less and less QBs are leaving early now. Look at how old Penix and Nix are.

If his last name wasn't Manning no one would be discussing a 19 year old 2nd string college QB.

Not only do our opinions not hold up well year to year and so don't often mean much, it's an even bigger stretch to start speculating about not just the next draft but those 2 and 3 years from now. However, that's not to suggest that I don't appreciate any and all insights that may be shared here

Cheers!

Thinking we are going to tank next year also, really gives me confidence in the team. So if we want to think like that might as well have Jones stay here and we will be assured of a very high draft pick.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.
