Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are set to fight tonight at the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium in front of an expected 100,000 attendees (Netflix, 8 pm ET). The match has generated attention for pitting one of the sport's legends against an upstart YouTuber-turned-boxer roughly half his age (see breakdown).

Tyson, 58, holds the record for youngest heavyweight boxing champion, a feat he achieved at age 20. Tyson served three years in prison for rape in the early 1990s. In 1997, he famously bit the ear of opponent Evander Holyfield twice midmatch. He has not fought professionally since a loss in 2005 (see timeline). Paul, 27, has converted a successful influencer stint into a boxing career; he is the younger brother of fellow social media influencer—and wrestler—Logan Paul.

The officially sanctioned fight will feature tweaks to the rules, with bigger gloves used and fewer, shorter rounds. It will be one of seven contests streaming live on Netflix tonight as the company debuts live boxing, part of a broader effort to expand live programming.

Where are Ali/Frazier/Formena when you need them.

Imagine what Netflix would do with Ali/Frazier today.

Sadly, people t today don't know the excitement a bigtime Heavyweight fight can bring
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

As we know from our recent election, we Americans are more than capable of embracing all kinds of mindless nonsense. So having essentially replaced Marquess of Queensberry Friday Nights, etc as concerns for CTE have grown, we have introduced a much more violent money-maker as in "don't worry about the practically bare-knuckle gloves as we have Headgear" in its MMA successor.

As for Tyson v Paul, just another of Jerrah's AT&T clown shows. At least, they don't have to worry about getting CTE or sun in their eyes. And not to worry about there being another Junior Seau in the NFL, as all it will take is a bit more padding as we are now beginning to see on the practice field.

Cheers!

Glad I didn't stay up for that nonsense.

Talk about lowest common denominator entertainment.

Why would anyone be surprised that this performance would be a clown show?

I'm not aware that anyone was surprised.

Nope. Absolutely expected. The US needs a really decent heavyweight to stem these types of nonsense fights.

There's still big heavyweight fights with Fury, Usek and AJ but it really needs a proper contender from the US to reinvigorate the interest.

It was sad to see, although it was very apparent that this was a contractually fixed fight. Tyson barely threw any punches. That said, he had a knee brace and his legs were shot.

The best fight of the night was Amanda Serrano getting robbed of a clear victory by three judges with the same scorecard.

Last night was bad for boxing and another nail in the coffin.

Two reasons:

1)  It's cheaper to build in Texas (so Jerrah's money went further)

2)  Dallas enjoyed a singular vision, while the Giants play in a billion-dollar monument to compromise (between the competing visions of the Giants and the Jets)

I had a friend bet $50 in Tyson.  He thinks Tyson should pay him back.  Some took it serious.  When a boxer comes out with a knee brace on, what do you think is going to happen?
