Guessing Sterling Shepard will still be playing a prominent role like he has over the last several weeks.

He hasn't really done too much.  Their tight end Otton was the target monster and their used their three running backs heavily as well.  Mostly White and Irving.

I think the bigger elephant in the room is that many people here said Shepard should have retired 2 years ago and wasn't worth a roster sport in 2023, takes a spot from another receiver (Stills!) and should take coaching job. Now a year older he switches teams, coaches, and has an actual NFL QB and he has suddenly found the fountain of youth. This speaks volumes about how the Giants poorly evaluate their own player and at the same time how some fans evaluate our own players. Look at how quickly some couldn't wait to get rid of ball hawk McKinney. Look at how BJ Hill is still a starting NT 3 year after being traded. Look at how Will Hernandez is getting rave reviews. Why are we so bad at evaluating our own players? The narrative that "these are players who do nothing after they leave us" is beyond a false one.

The issue with Shepard was never one of talent.  The issue was he couldn't stay healthy.   He leaves Ronnie Barnes and he has been able to more or less stay healthy with the Bucs medical people.   In game 8 he left the game with a hamstring tweak, but he was back on the field the next week.   I can't help but feel if that same situation had happened with the Giants and Ronnie Barnes' medical team, he would have missed most or all of the rest of the season.

SS was healthy all last season and barely played yielding snaps to the likes of Isaiah Hogkins and Parris Campbell. But a solid passing team with 2 pro bowl receivers found a bigger role for him. It's beyond health. It's our poor coaching too.

2023 was a strange season.  I truly am puzzled why Schoen wasted money and a roster space signing Shepard if he was going to be chained to the bench as you described.

I doubt that was a Schoen decision.

When a team seems to have a bad aura (for lack of a better descriptor) about itself, is a cold-weather organization and has a player, such as Shepard, who was injured often, sometimes the best thing to do is let him try elsewhere. So, he moves deep into South Florida where he no longer has to deal with cold every day in the latter part of the year, doesn't have to always be the focus of the receiver corps and now has a nice grass turf instead of the "Sardine Can Turfmonster," it is little wonder why he has discovered a niche with the Bucs in the twilight of his career.

I think I speak for everyone in that we're all grateful for everything he gave the Giants' organization. In the end, he had nothing left to give the team and that is certainly understandable. A change, especially for the better for him, is something he deserves and I'm happy for him it is working out.

It will be nice to see an old Giant warrior return where it all started for him in 2016. I wish him only the very best and hope his reunion is memorable.

Huh?  What am I missing, TD?  He's averaging a well below-average 2 rec/22 yards per game, and is on pace for a whopping 1.5 TD. He's the exact same wr he was in NY, with the exception he's getting more playing time.

At least Hyatt is young and on a rookie contract, so he may still end up contributing.  To me, that is less onerous than signing an older vet like Shep.  Of course, I am also mindful that despite Tracy's impressive rookie RB performance, if not for injury, Tracy could still be warming the pines and not give the team a lift with his impressive production as the starting RB.
