Should the Giants lose on Thursday, should Daboll be sacked?

This discussion is permeating a number of threads so I thought it would be prudent to have just one thread to discuss.

If you answer, yes and you have a potential future plan. Please outline it.

I picked I don't know. It's woeful. The product is woeful, there are some promising players - Nabers, Tracey and Johnson and a  very good/excellent player in Dex but outside of that, we appear bereft of talent. I don't know if change for changes' sake would benefit anyone.

Also - I'm assuming Schoen survives regardless. GMs usually outlast the head coach. So I'm working on that premise.

He should be gone tomorrow.  The team is regressing regardless of the Jones situation.  Not to mention he has been a complete incompetent buffoon with the play sheet in his hands.

I don't think Schoen will fire Daboll. They came in together knowing they needed a QB.

If Daboll gets fired, Mara will have to do it. And I don't think he will.

Let Daboll suffer through the last 6 weeks with everyone else, then put him out of his misery. Don't do him any favors right now.

But, yes, Daboll is absolutely a dead man walking.

I expect more effort on Thursday.  Players tend to not want to embarrass themselves on national tv.  I don't expect a win, but I expect a better showing.

Me too, Matt.

When do we not embarrass ourselves on national TV?

The team isn't being undone by lack of effort from the players. I don't buy that.

The team is let down by very poor leadership, especially the HC, and they don't have a bona fide starting QB, which is on the GM and the HC.

I don't think Mara will do an in-season firing this year although I admit he has shown the capacity to do that when the noise level in the media and fan base gets loud enough.

I guess if he gets squeamish from all of that, as an alternative to firing Daboll, he can always ask Pat Hanlon to plead to the media to stop saying unflattering things about the team though. That seems to be an effective strategy in staving off further criticism.

I personally wouldn't fire him, if that is the decision, until the end of the season.

I wish I could care. I'm at that point that I'm so disgusted with this team, that I don't. Defense, offense, coaching, is so terrible that I really don't anymore. Such a complete embarrassment.  :boooo:

Players, coaches, GM's all come and go. The constant is a Mara. It has always been so. I started in 65', they are approximately 60 games UNDER .500 since then(regular season). A historical losing franchise. If not for Rozelle intervening we don't get Young, then don't get Parcells, then don't get TC. We get more of nothing. It's past time for Mara to publicly declare how much HE has screwed up the franchise, from hiring Mara soldiers(historically Webster, Robustelli, recently Gettleman) to "influencing" the Jones contract. Time to offer allocution, and get the F out of the way. Oh, b/t/w ten years ago the Giants were worth $2.1 Billion, today $7.3 Billion. Totally inferior product results in 3.5 times increase in value. Is he really an owner of a "losing" team?

I really don't get this board sometimes. Jones gets 60+ games, killing multiple coaches along the way, and even this season I was admonished that I can't draw conclusions about him until some arbitrary date. Daboll, a Coach of the Year, after one game without DJ? Get rid of him!

Daboll might not be the future head coach of this team. I am completely open to that possibility (and have been whenever asked). But we're literally one game into the post-Jones era. They're now at a $40MM handicap every game (because of the guy who many on this board celebrated when he got the contract that now drags down the roster). I'll at least see how the season turns out before I decide he's not the one for this team moving forward.

Measured. Fair point
