There are plenty of videos showing receivers open on multiple occasions but Jones didn't see them.

Yes, he's made some WTF calls too.

"We're going to build this thing the right way... I'm not going to do a Hail Mary for self preservation. We've got a plan in place and we're going to stick with that"

Every coach makes some WTF calls.  When they are executed, he is a genius or "ballsy".  When they don't he is a moron or "thinks he's playing Madden".

Quote from: Philosophers on December 09, 2024, 09:09:15 PMSo what happens if they draft Sanders then the next year Daboll gets fired?  Now Sanders will be on HC and OC #2 with the same argument of "new coach didnt draft Sanders."  How does that help anyone?
That is why they have to be given a few seasons with the new QB.

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on December 09, 2024, 01:59:54 PMIf Daboll is coming back, which I think would be a mistake, I'd rather just sign Darnold and draft Hunter. I see no reason to allow a lame duck regime to draft a QB 1st or 2nd overall.

I agree....  If Giants are Drafting a QB in first Round than that means the coaching staff should be allowed to work with him for three years minimum .....Daboll does not deserve another chance .. he had his chance with Joines ....nothing.... his offense is awful mistake prone group that stumbles through a game .. Stats prove out that he has not improved with his guys .... he coached better with the group left behind by former GM.
his play calling is suspect at best ....not just me saying that....unless the giants can trade for Josh Allen ....Daboll will continue to struggle....at least he should show some gonads and give up play calling and give it back to O coordinator....some of the decisions on fourth down etc. are mind boggling at times ....the trick plays in the red zone that flop....game plans that come out throwing the ball downfield from a below average QB behind a really bad line is questionable    ... if he stays the Giants should get a real functioning veteran QB and trade first pick to get as many good players as possible . Then see if he make them a competitive team before investing a very high pick on a QB that will take a few years to develop.

Which would doom the franchise for at least five years.

If these two come back we are screwed for another decade. This is an opportunity to get an experienced coach with a winning history of running a team to championships. We need winners here. Not just for the sake of the fans but for the new QB. I want no part of Daboll whispering anything to the QB. He is no QB whisperer. As for Schoen if he can't manage the cap without keeping his good players then he simply isn't good.
Why create a Chicago situation for the QB, rather than a Washington situation. You have to remember Dan Quin is a winner and a Super Bowl coach. You have an opportunity for the freshest of starts with a new GM and coach. High draft pick and cap space. If it were up to me I'm starting g fresh with a winning coach.

So could hiring the wrong person to replace the current regime.

Here's the thing: if you don't fix the flaws at the top, all efforts to fix other problems will be greatly handicapped

I would hardly call Dan Quinn a winner. He never recovered from blowing the biggest SB lead in league history where he could have called 30+ straight running plays and not have lost the game. His teams were terrible after that. Yeah it was mostly Shanahan's fault for the play calling but the HC steers the ship.

Technically Dan is a winner

Quinn finished his tenure in Atlanta with a 43–42 (.506) regular season record, 3–2 (.600) playoff record and a 46–44 (.511) career record.

Yep, the great Dan Quinn who went 7-9, 7-9 and 0-5 in his last three seasons in Atl, before being fired before the quarter point of the 2020 season.  Like all coaches, he began to produce losing seasons when his QB and/or talent started to erode.  Funny how that works...

Unless Daboll wins a game, his winning percentage will be less

Quinn got lucky in having the second pick ion the draft and that the Bears took Williams and not Daniels. He also hired an excellent OC in Kingsbury plus he has top GM in Peters .

What does Dan Quinn have to do with Daboll? The Giants have Daboll now and he is what his record is. Abysmal.

Philosophers

I would feel better if I saw progress and development on other position groups on the team and concluded that all that was needed was a QB but the fact remains that almost every position group has trended down or been flat.  That is my reason for firing him.
