Quote from: Ed Vette on December 11, 2024, 03:56:40 PMHe worked along side of Kevin Colbert the Steeler GM for 20 TWENTY YEARS. It took him 22 years to become the GM. Did you not see that or did you decide to omit it?
In 2001, Khan was hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers to serve as their football operations coordinator in their football operations and player personnel department. In that role he has helped to assemble two Super Bowl winners. Along with general manager Kevin Colbert, in 20 seasons they have drafted and signed/extended over 30 Pro Bowl players.[3] In 2011, Khan was promoted to director of football administration and in 2016, he was promoted to vice president of football and business administration. In 2022, Khan was promoted to general manager as the successor to Colbert.

Ed,

He was the first GM I pulled up.   I respect your view on her.

I believe that no GM change checks all the boxes.   Guys who spend their time reviewing film, may have an intimate knowledge of the game, but they tend to be lacking in the management side.  We have different views and that will happen.

Thanks but no thanks. I'd make Ozzie Newsome an offer he can't refuse including and the power to make any football related decisions without consulting the Mara's. They'll never do it. As the old saying goes the first generation establishes the family business, the second one grows it and the third one destroys it.

Rich, she's not qualified. Can you imagine why she's getting interviews? She's a minority among very few if any female candidates and it would be a big win to hire her for that position as PR for female fans and liberals. I'm not a fan of the Rooney Rule. Minorities get interviewed where the organization has no intention of hiring them. Right now we have a situation where Bill Belichick can't be hired by an NFL team like the Giants without going through the process. The process can't take place until after the season is over because it's a disruption of operations and it's a Red Flag for media speculation. Mike Tomlin has been a Coach for 16 years because he's proven to be among the very best in the business.

If John Mara and Tisch hire her for President of Football Operations and essence in charge of the entire organization, then they are bigger fools than you all make them out to be. There's a place for her to grow and develop within the right organization and it has to be the right organization because if she fails, it's a step back for females at high level positions in the NFL.

Rich,

How many other candidates have you looked into in this amount of detail before arriving at the decision that you want the Giants to hire this specific individual to run the organization? Who were the best three or four names in the short list of the candidates you vetted, and what do you like more about Dawn than them?

Ed,

It takes an extremely intelligent and accomplished person to achieve a CPA, MBA and a bar certified lawyer.  She has spent her entire career in the NFL and had some good mentors, so it's not like she doesn't have NFL experience.

This is just my experience and opinion, but I will bet on intelligence and accomplishment every time.

I appreciate that you see things differently.

Jeff,

I didn't go about things as you suggested.   I spend quite a bit of time researching though.   Did deep dives on potential candates when they hired Gettleman and when Schoen was hired.  I have studied others as well, because I just have an insatiable intellectual curiosity.

I say that, to say I am impressed as hell with her credentials.   Someone of her caliber doesn't come around very often

Not for this position.

Fair enough Rich.
