He's just going through the motions at this point. He knows what's coming. He gets paid for the next two years either way. And he's not going to run his mouth and cost himself a shot at a future HC job the way Joe Judge did.

IDK why people expect anything more from these Q&As

No one expects anything more from a 2 win coach. It is what it is.

Pretty tactless to put him on the spot that way. Who asked the question?

"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Journalists who have a responsibility to ask tough questions. Daboll has think skin which you need to be a NFL head coach.
"It's extra special against Dallas. That's absolutely a team I can't stand. I've been hating Dallas ever since I knew anything about football." - Brandon Jacobs

Fair point, but whoever was asking these questions kind of needled him about it more than necessary with 20 questions.

I get it's part of the game but just one question on this topic probably would have been sufficient. Especially when everyone knows how he (or any coach in his position) is going to answer before the question is even asked.

That's not a tough question. That's just uncalled for in my book. The fork in a well done corpse.

I'm not sure what else people expect him to say, regardless of if he's safe or not. I'd answer the same way

IMHO it's ghoulish. It's never pleasant to see a person lose their job even if their performance merits it.

It would be bad enough to be asked in private if they felt like they were about to be fired but it's a whole other thing to do it in front of the world.

Serious what's he going to say? Yeah I totally deserve it? It's almost as if it's done by weak men just to make someone suffer. The worst part is they do it just because they can get away with it and they'll never have to endure that indignity themselves. If that happened to journalists you'd never see that question asked of a coach.

What a far cry from the ballsy coach who went for the 2 point conversion for the win in his 1st game and followed it up with passionate crowd favorite cheers at MSG Ranger playoff games.

Seems like a decade ago now.

Sad ending. But ultimately he helped in the unraveling.

I don't think so.  What do you want him to say?  Want him to admit he is worried about it?  Never going to happen.  What him to arrogantly dismiss it? Not going to happen.  He answered the questions perfectly.  He can't control what Mara thinks.

I'm still holding out hope. I may be the only one walking him down the Green Mile.
