For Caleb Williams?

Chicago looks like they're about to blow the whole thing up.

I know Williams hasn't been great, but I blame much of that on the coaching staff.

It doesn't look like there is anyone in this years draft who is better.

Just a question to ponder.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

I always worry about changing the coaching/system for a second year QB. Chicago made a big mistake by not cleaning house BEFORE drafting Caleb.

I'm bot sure he has the personality and temperament for NY.

No.

I'd rather have either Sanders or Ward over him after seeing him play this year. He has plenty of weapons and has done little with them.

I also don't think he is built for NY Media

Caleb Williams has fantastic physical talent but I think he has a temperamental mental makeup.  Bad formula for a QB.  Poor mental makeup with strong physical talent are QBs like Jay Cutler and Jeff George.

Ok this statement confuses me. We don't want a guys like Caleb who can't handle a big media (which Chicago is) but we don't want the son of a flashy and loud former NFL star because of the media circus. This is not directed at you but I feel like you can never win with Giants fans always finding a reason to steer away from a potential star. We saw it with OBJ and now with Nabors.

I also do not understand this fear of Deion that some have spoken into existence in their minds, along with the ripple effect trickled down to Shedeur.

I know you said it wasn't directed at me, but to clarify, my NY Media comment was in regards to Caleb.

andrew: I din't like Williams on draft day and still don't, not because of raw talent, but because I don't think he'll know how to (or care learn how to) do the work it takes to overcome NFL adversity.

But I'd trade Pick One for almost any current NFL starter whom his current team refuses to trade. lol

Seriously, I'd trade it for this year's 1st, next year's 1st and a good young established NFL guard.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Williams isn't going anywhere. He made throws last night that a QB here hasn't made since Fran Tarkenton. They have to coach him properly and they don't have that. Also that Offensive Line is a turnstile. I was never a Calib Williams fan and he doesn't fix the Giants, but his talent is too good to give up on after one season.

Chicago would never do it. Nor should they. He's a special talent that's put up better numbers than he probably even should give the head coach he was dealing with. If they offered that deal the Giants would fall over themselves to accept it.

And that's not to say that sanders or Ward are awful prospects. They're not. They're both solid. But Williams is a better prospect. Nothing that's happened to him in his rookie season changes my evaluation of him.

There were two OTs drafted shortly after the Bears selected Odunze to add to an already talented WR room.  I wonder if they made a mistake

I would likely take Caleb in a swap.

He has shown some flashes that have really impressed me.  Last night he made a throw (it was called back for a holding call) where he was running to his left and was able to throw a dart into the back of the end zone between two defenders from about 15 yards out.  In my opinion they throw showed rare ability.

He has a lot to learn to become a professional QB, but that's true of every rookie.

His growth has definitely been stunted by losing his HC and then 2 weeks later losing the OC.  Not that those guys were the right guys.  Just hard for me to fault him too much at this point given the absurdly bad coaching situation for a rookie QB.

The part that makes it a probably is not knowing his mental makeup and not being able to address that part of the conversation .

He has an amazing arm and athletic ability.

No!  I preferred Daniels over Williams last year due to the latter's personality traits.  Those traits still exist; thus, I prefer the Giants draft a QB, either this year or next.  If they choose to trade the pick, I prefer it be for extra picks in subsequent drafts.

sooners56

Absolutely! Williams is getting a lot of hate for no reason. I am aware Williams  has had his struggles but I believe 2nd year Williams will be among the top 10 best QBs in the league. By year 3 he will move closer to top 5.

Once the Bears get a proper coaching staff Williams will take off.
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!
