Do you agree that Schoen and Daboll are a package deal?

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I tend to think they're both coming back. First off, Mara already sort of articulated this and Schoen kind of said it in the midseason presser. I realize that doesn't mean it's set in stone, but I feel like Mara probably doesn't want to go back on his word.

Moreover Mara has hinted he doesn't want to keep firing people for two bad years, which is what this would be (2022 wasn't bad at all).

I get all the arguments for cleaning house. I'm just not convinced it will happen.

Quote from: Dumpster Dan on December 27, 2024, 11:32:00 AMThey were and are a package deal it was thought.  They each were given 5 year contracts weren't they??  And my memory tells me that the majority of us were OK with that. Five years to turn things around.  It was going to take that long according to most of us experts.  Anybody could see that DG left this team in such a mess it would take something short of a miracle to turn it around in less time than five years.  Unless of course, we go 2-15, are not perfect in our drafts, handle some free agent situations poorly, are overrated as a play caller, doesn't recognize the "talent" he has available to him, sticks with the same average players when he has UDFA sitting on the bench who should be given a shot, in we the smart guys opinion.  So its altogether different now--The five year hope is out the window.  How quickly we forget!!!   So lets can both of em and start over but if we do I hope the Giants are honest and upfront with anyone who would be foolish to come into this dysfunctional organization.  Make sure that the next regime understands that you have three years or less to turn it around even though I am going to give you a five year contract or else you are outta here, and lets start over again.  Is that the modus operandi we want>??

And now, like Nero twiddling his thumbs we have a meddling owner who sits on his duff and lets the perfect candidate for taking over and really turning this team around, a 72 year old Brady less former coach with a record of 65-82 as such whose is so much in demand that his next job is as a college coach at a college that is NOT considered a blue blood of college football programs.  Word is that he wouldn't take the Giants job unless he got 10 million per year GUARANTEED for five years because he is so good that he knows that it's going to take more than THREE years to turn this mess around.

I ask myself "why do I continue to root for a team that is such an embarrassment"??

Easy answer--as this rant indicates--I am just as dysfunctional as the damn team I root for

Dan, I appreciate your point about the 5 years, I really do.   I will offer up an anolgy.   A super tanker is so large that it can take 10 minutes for it to turn around.

Now suppose you are on a tanker that is heading south instead of north because the captain is incompetent.   So you fire the captain and promote the first mate and tell him to turn the ship around and sail north.  6 minutes later you notice the ship is still heading due south.  At that point, it's fair to say the new captain doesn't know what he is doing because the ship is not going to be heading north if you wait the last 4 minutes.

I assume you are indicating that the Captain has made the same kind of error in the past  else pretty quick hook if it was a first time error in judgement (direction)

Where was the super tanker when the first mate took over?  In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean?  Or in the Hudson River?  Maybe the first mate made a judgement call that he didnt have the space to turn the tanker around and was waiting for more clearance.  Maybe then he showed that he knew what he was doing.

That is my thinking as well based on Mara's sad pathetic decision making. And again it will lead to nothing but failure. Most of the decisions he makes do. So we fans will have to endure more of the same in the coming years, new QB or not.

Brooklyn Dave

THey both should go . Daboll will get another job as an OC probably right away. Schoen might have blown his chance to be another GM , at least it could take several years for him
