The Giants have options

There are three-four teams in the top half of the draft who need QBs. The Giants and the Raiders, Jets, and Tenn. They can be obtained through the Draft, Free Agency, or a Trade. Other teams may have a QB need but their Cap situation along with greater needs may hold them back. The top prospects in the Draft at this point are Sanders and Ward, but by the time next April rolls around, after Bowl Games, the Combine, and the Senior Bowl, the landscape will most certainly change. Both top two QB prospects may not even be in consideration for the top three picks. The top QB prospects don't have into consideration a QB who may actually better than both of them and has flown under the radar, and that CB is Dillon Gabriel.

I can foresee Sanders's stock dropping after his horrific showing in his Bowl Game. Ward's leadership is in question after opting out of the second half of his game, whether it should be or not.

If it came down to the Giants drafting Gabriel, knowing that he's just 9 pounds lighter than Jayden Daniels and about the same size as Murray and Young, does it really make sense to bypass him for any consideration? So he's a left-hander? That might actually be an asset.

There are about 10 Free Agent QBs who could be bridge starters in 2025. Picking a QB like Gabriel, Dart, McCord, Milroe or Beck in the second round or later in the first round, along with signing Flacco, Fields, Winston..... could prove to be better for the Giants than picking Sanders. And Btw, if Sanders fell to the Giants, wherever they may pick, don't be surprised if they pass on him.

Then of course, they could sign Darnold if the Vikings let him walk. I don't think they let him walk.

So, whether the Giants pick third or ninth, they have options that they can still win with.

Bring in Justin Fields, Zack Wilson, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe and take a long look at them. They are all 26 years old or younger. With several QBs resurrecting their careers, perhaps one or two of these young men could do the same. Giants could sign two of them for the price Darnold would get

You can sign all 4 and then some for what Darnold is going to get

You get what you pay for, or at least you should.

March 9, 2024 I suggested Darnold. You said " He is DJ with no legs" Two posters gave you thumbs up. When I put that up Darnold was cheap, but now will be over paid. For me, I wouldn't do it now. I would sign both Fields and Bailey Zappe from the four guys I listed.

He was DJ without legs. Do you think this season is a fluke?

Just turned on the Bama vs Michigan game. In just one series Milroe turned me off. As the commentator mentioned he did not see the field well, and no anticipation with throws. He had a guy coming open across the middle, but hesitated and threw late. We've had enough of that. I want a QB drafted who already has the intangibles, and just needs to adjust to the pro game with some time. If one doesn't exist in this draft so be it. The Giants' timing this year is suspect.

Agreed. We should not be shopping hungry.

It's not even clear we should have taken a QB with the first pick overall in the draft.

To me the only standout at this point is Cam Ward.

DB: Just repeating your post to increase the chances it will be seen.

Fate (winning last Sunday) may prove to benefit the Giants this year.

Considering the cost of a high first-round QB, I think there are a few (very few) players who will present a greater value who will go in the top five to seven picks and be great players. Maybe (for once) fate will guide the seemingly clueless Giants in a favorable direction (probably against their will lol).

Ed: I agree but would say "he's the closest thing to a 'sure-fire' QB, even though he's not one" IMO.

His story, what he overcame, how hard he worked, along with the fact that he played in multiple systems  in college (with good and bad OL's) is why I might consider him around Pick Eight or Nine.

I strongly believe there's better value AT THE QB POSITION in later rounds than in round one this year.

To add. In today's NFL to be successful a QB needs to perform off platform/on the run. If you don't see the field from the pocket you're certainly not going to see it being chased. I'm not expecting Mahomes/Allen degree of adlib ability, but a QB has to have a good amount.

I have been saying this for a while now, why isn't anyone else even considering making a run at McCarthy? I think we all believe the Vikings are going to resign Darnold. If they don't and opt for JJ, good for them, but then they are basically starting over, but it would save them scads of money. I still think the Vikings would listen to a low #1 pick, what the Giants have, for McCarthy.
Why are people so down on him? He might be our best option since the two guys at the top don't seem to really impress most of us. JJ has had a year to sit and learn. He might fit in perfectly here in NY.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Who's down on JJ? Did I miss something? It would be monumentally stupid for the Vikings to trade him away on the rookie deal.
