There's a REAL OC and QB mentor out there. Pick up the phone to see if Doug Pederson is interested.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Not a chance. He's a lame duck. No one is coming to work for him of any quality. It's a joke.

Easy interim hire, should the HC be fired - so I think it could attract a good candidate.

Peterson could be a stabilizing influence and yes, if we get off to ANOTHER slow start, that should be an in season firing and he would make a solid Interim.

Who is he mentoring?  And why would he want to go somewhere that there is a strong possibility his boss will be fired mid-season and then he will be looking for a job again after the season?

The reality is, Daboll could only get his fourth choice for DC last year. He will not have the pick of the litter for any assistants this year. It's a disaster.

How can you say there's a strong possibility Daboll will get fired mid-season?

Pederson won a championship and can help Daboll from an experience standpoint.

I am going off a record of two awful starts in a row for Daboll coached teams and the fact that the QB room is currently the worst in the NFL.

2-8 next year and Mara's opinion changes quickly

Clearly the QB room will look much different next year. I just don't see how anyone could reasonably project next season's results and confidently say that the coach will be fired mid-season. Impossible to say with an iota of accuracy, especially when the basis is the past two seasons and the QB room.

I think veterans like Pederson and Reich might see us as a good option. They would be a potential HC in waiting if Daboll gets fired and if the O turns it around they get reflected credit and a boost if they want one more HC shot and at worst a refresh in reputation.

I think the bold is necessary.

I don't see anyone can possibly put that scenario as out of the question.

It wasn't just the QB this year.  The LT went down for the 2nd year in a row and the OL play immediately dropped significantly and was mediocre to start.  The run defense was awful all year.

Then you can look at the schedule and assume there won't be a lot of wins against the AFC West or NFC North barring serious injuries to those teams.

Further. as we have seen the last two years, Dabolls teams were woefully prepared for week 1.

I have no optimism that the men who spent three years building one of the worst teams in the league are going to turn it around in 1 offseason and show improvement quickly

You've stated facts as to what happened *this* season.

What happened this season has no bearing on next season.

Tim,

I hope they can turn it around but given their previous track record with 1 good draft out of 3 and things like being unprepared in week 1 along with what looks like a very tough schedule prevent me from having any optimism at this point.

Is a bridge QB and/or rookie QB really going to make this team competitive?  I highly doubt it

That's fair. I respect your position.

My disagreement was solely with your projection of a mid-season firing, especially when we have no idea who our starting QB will be.

Hopefully they'll make good moves to get you and others back on the optimistic side.   :goteam:
