Guess no one thinks Drew Lock or Devito is the answer

They all point to attributes that Jones did not have. Here's a name not being mentioned as a bridge. Teddy Bridgewater. No pun intended.

What's the point of bringing a guy like Bridgewater?  He has thrown 79 passes since 2021.  He wasnt good in 2021, the last time he had any meaningful playing time and I doubt that's change over the last few years.

All things that have been said all season but routinely got shot down or blamed on coaching.

They weren't meant to be. They were brought in to feed into/prop up Mara's delusional fantasies about Jones.

They were brought in to the Giant's QB if Jones suffered a setback or if the team did badly and they had to bench DJ due to the injury clause.  Let us not make up wild stories to cover for Schoen's failings

I would keep Lock around as a backup.

So you are suggesting the HC and GM purposely sabotaged the roster to make it worse?  If that's the case they should probably be banned from the NFL.

I don't see it as sabotage. You pay a guy $40 million to be the starter, everyone else is a backup. Backup in talent and backup in pay.

Tim,

Have you heard the phrase-  "The backup quarterback is the second most important player on the team"

Probably even truer when the starting QB is coming off a serious injury and potentially be benched during the season

Any QB who knows they are better than Jones aren't going to sit behind him. Ask Russell Wilson.

Not allowing them to compete is on Schoen and Daboll.

Regardless of what you are paying a starter, the goal is to make the roster the best it can be.  Did they really think Lock was the best available backup?  If they did that is bad. Your earlier statements that "were brought in to feed into/prop up Mara's delusional fantasies about Jones" would suggest otherwise.

To me the best way to show Mara Jones wasn't the guy was to bring in a better backup and if and when he had a chance to start and looked better than Jones, the delusion would be hard to defend.

In any business, purposely failing to show your boss he is wrong is inexcusable.  Is this philosophy about backups being backups true with the OL?  Is that why they dropped like a rock when AT went down?

Guess none of it really matters.  They will either improve next year or be out the door.

Having Jones on the roster, thus preventing a better QB, is on Mara.

Disagree all you want. Mara's decision to keep Schoen and Daboll tells me he knows he got in the way.

If he truly believed Schoen wasn't a good GM, he'd have fired both.
