I know that this is way out of the box and most will think I have been smoking those funnt cigarettes again.

If Rex Ryan does not get the HC job with the Jets , do you think that the Giants might consider him for DC?

Is his ego too much for Mara and Tisch. Daboll probably wouldn't want him , see Wink Martindale ,

All that said, he is a helluva DC and would stack up well against the likes of Dan Quinn, Mike McCarthy and Nick Sirianni

I wonder if a coach who has been out of the league for nine years, might find things are a bit different than when he left.

He might take the job thinking he could be the HC when Daboll gets fired next year.

I think it's a great idea and just what the Dr ordered.

I doubt his ego will let him take a DC job. It's quite a come down.

For me, he can go in the Dorsey file labelled "no thanks"

If he's a good DC who gets excellent results why does the above matter?

Probably the ones that don't know how to tackle, don't know how to cover, and those that don't play hard on every play. We may need many new guys playing defense if Ryan ever got the job.

Ryan won't take a DC job. He has proven himself capable of maintaining steady work as a TV guy. He has already won a SB as a DC and his last two NFL coaching jobs were as head coach. I don't get the sense he has any interest in working under anyone on a staff.

I think it's HC or bust for him, and it doesn't seem like he's interested in any team but the Jets. I suspect if he doesn't get it he'll just continue his TV thing, which appears to be going perfectly fine. I don't think he's desperate at all. This is a fill or kill situation for the Jets head coaching job.
