President Rick

watson tore his achilles again...   per nfl channel.

lesson?  Do NOT sell the ranch for any qb.  Bust or no bust, these horrible injuries happen to players, even to future HOF'ers [A. Rodgers, e.g.].  Play money ball.

This news only makes the Giants effort to secure a QB this offseason more difficult

If the Giants trade up to one, I'll be very disappointed.

It appears both teams ahead of the Giants need QBs, similar to the situation we witnessed last year.  Unless a team doesn't think Ward and/or Sanders is a franchise QB (and would prefer the extra draft capital), it's unlikely either team would make the trade.

I am concerned with Mara's "we need to get our QB" mandate, as well as the precarious situation Schoen and Daboll find themselves in. That sort of thing leads a team to fall in love with an undeserving QB and either drafting them too high or, worse, paying a king's ransom on top of drafting them too high.

Hopefully, Schoen and Daboll will reach a conclusion that this isn't the year to get a QB and instead focus on building up the team and getting by with a bridge QB and perhaps a day 2 or 3 drafted QB project.

I challenge anyone here to name a worse contract in the history of professional sports than Deshaun Watson's.

I guess the question is perspective.  In terms of 31 owners or GMs, this was perhaps one of the best contracts in recent history as it put to bed demands for fully guaranteed contracts.   The only ones who have a reason to consider this horrible are Jimmy Haslam and the Browns fans.

That said, I appreciate your point about just how bad this contract was.

Not just the contract Jeff @DaveBrown74

Revisiting the Deshaun Watson trade:

**Texans received:**
- 2022 1st-round pick
- 2022 4th-round pick
- 2023 1st-round pick
- 2023 3rd-round pick
- 2024 1st-round pick
- 2024 4th-round pick

**Browns received:**
- Deshaun Watson
- 2024 6th-round pick

The Browns also gave Watson a 5-year, $230 million contract — fully guaranteed no matter what.

Watson has played just 19 games through the first three years of the deal and is set to miss most, if not all, of the fourth year.

Has arguably been the worst trade in NFL history.

That's a good point Rich. I remember when Lamar was clamoring for the same deal DeShaun got, and, wisely, the Ravens didn't cave. Now that Watson has been such a catastrophe, no player can credibly demand a 100% guaranteed contract of that type of magnitude with a straight face.

Rosehill Jimmy

The Mets and Bobby Bonilla.  They might still be paying him :D

Me too, Ed; I was actually relieved we're picking 3 vice 1...let some other team gamble on Sanders or Ward.

Jersey Heel

I want someone like Carter or Hunter in round 1 and then someone like Dart or Ewers in round 2.

I think the Titans are so broken they may trade out.

Seems like a bad year to be a seller

BlueMoshik

Nah.

The Titans will probably draft Ward. The Browns will probably draft Hunter. And I'm still pretty sure the Giants draft Sanders.
