I think mayo has a better legal standing on being terminated than Flores. The patriots have been leaking info this past week and a few that I've seen were that he played cards on the plane with players after the games instead of watching tape and that Belichick left a year early so he didn't get the chance to mentor him as much as they wanted.

I don't think BB mentors anyone.  To mentor is to take initiative.  He just coaches.  Assistants can watch if they want.

Yeah. And the any "mentoring" he has done in the past has not exactly worked wonders for Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel, Matt Patricia, Joe Judge, Brian Daboll, Josh McDaniels, Bill O'Brien, etc. Not insofar as being an NFL head coach at least.

Believe it or not, I heard in his later years BB would go out of his way to give his assistants extra training.   I think part of the problem is coaches can't learn how to coach like Belichick because it requires being as brilliant as Belichick.

Yeah, makes me wonder if they hadn't agreed with Vrabel as soon as BB got fired but Vrabel didn't want to absorb Maye's rookie season or immediately follow the legend, so they hired Mayo to be a "transition" coach.

Maye hadn't been drafted yet when Mayo was hired. Kraft groomed Mayo to be BB successor. It didn't work out. There is no evil behind the scenes master plan here.

Jess,

I think it's fair to say there was some funny business in the form of the team knowing who they were hiring before they fired Maya.  That said, I think it was an act of poor judgment for Kraft to make him the head coach when the highest coaching he achieved had been inside LB coach.  That is even less qualifications than the under-qualified Antonio Pierce of the Raiders

No surprise to anyone that Vrabel is the Patriots new coach.
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

I quite agree.
