Foul-mouthed fan banned from Eagles home games, fired from job after viral tirade against woman

QuoteA Philadelphia sports fan, who went on a misogynistic tirade against a female Green Bay Packers fan in viral video, lost his job and won't be allowed to ever attend another Eagles home game, officials said Tuesday.

The ugly scene was captured on cellphone video during the Eagles' NFC wild-card round victory Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philly.

The "individual will not be permitted to attend any future events at Lincoln Financial Field," a source familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

The widely shared video showed a man in an Eagles jacket bending over, cusping his hands over his mouth and verbally abusing the female fan in the row in front of him. That fan did not appear to respond to him.

I hate that the majority of Philly fans are this way. I know there are other teams that are rough like SF or the Raiders, but they are in a league of their own.

Unacceptable, and no way to talk to a woman. Good on them for taking action, karma is a bitch.

I read this guy has a daughter, yet he would speak the way he did, over a damn football game nonetheless, and unprovoked. Sickening.

Kudos to the Eagles and his former employer in this case

Veterans Stadium:
Judge Seamus McCaffery presided over a court in the basement of Veterans Stadium.
The court handed out fines or jail time to fans who were arrested during games.
The stadium closed in 2003.

Lincoln Financial Field
The Eagles moved into Lincoln Financial Field in 2003.
The stadium has a holding cell, but no court.
The stadium is also known as "The Linc".

Why do people think it's acceptable to act this way at a game?

Why is it tolerated unless there is a viral video?

You mix alcohol, strong emotions, and opposing fan bases, and some of the stuff we see is not unexpected.  I suspect it's acceptable and tolerated because many of our nation's leaders act in similar appalling and unacceptable manners without consequence.   We have become a nation with no moral or ethical standards.

Thanks Rich. I don't think it has anything to do with what happened. The Packer fan made the GoFundMe request before the game. Unless he somehow targeted the offender and provoked the response (highly doubt it), there's nothing more to it.

I would agree, I posted the original Tweet so that people could get a better sense of what was said without having to go to the link and then go and watch the video.   I hadn't even noticed the part about a twist.

It wouldn't surprise me of the people who concocted and have pushed the twist narratives are Philly fans trying to do damage control to their already terrible reputation.

Yeah, just because it may have been somewhat inspected as some might interpret it, it in no way justifies that behavior to any degree.

If you can't afford to travel to a road playoff game and need to solicit donations then you should just stay home. It is not a right to attend any game. It amazes me how people will put themselves into a financial hole for non-essential expenses like concerts (hello Swifties!) and sporting event. It's all those evil credit card companies fault for charging interest!

That being said any suggestion that any of this ugly interaction is their fault is victim blaming and I can't even believe what I am reading. Philly has the worst reputation in USA sports for bad fan behavior. I would have a body cam on as well. Maybe the days of disgusting verbal assaults will be reduced now.

Even if the husband instigated why is the guy yelling at his wife?

Guessing he wore the camera because they expected to be harassed.  Maybe it will cause others to think twice.

The @sshole Philly fan was like a middle aged guy that should definitely know better.

FWIW, I went to opening day in 2016 at Cowboy Stadium, a game the Giants won, and although I was wearing Giants' merch and rooting for them, I was not mistreated in any way.  The Cowboys fans were pretty good natured.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Same with New England pre and post SB matchups. The fans were great. I also had zero issues at a Giants game at old RFK.
