Good find. They've also got Kevin Zeitler on their first team offense. I'm still bothered they let him go. Julian Love is on their first team defense. Barkley and McKinney made their second team.

Philosophers

I think for about team to come out of the doldrums from which the Giants are, they need to be top 10 on this list for 3 years in a row and for one of those draft positions to be QB and the other OL.  Three years of draft success fixing QB, OL plus introducing 2-3 other good starters and building depth would give this team the lift it needs.

Another Gettleman gift.

Was a cap casualty if memory serves me correctly. I can't remember what player we wasted the cap space on instead of Zeitler.

Correct. They signed Kyle Rudolph and Kenny Golladay. Neither of them did anything for the Giants and Golladay's contract was so backloaded it helped wreck the cap for the following two years. That was Gettleman's idea of cap management.

Similar to part of the Barkley issue, I think the Giants shed valuable veterans because our team's medical staff simply can't keep them healthy and at their peak.

Zietler in his last couple of season showed the classic sign of a veteran getting too old because his play got worse come December.  He joins another team and finds the fountain of youth

The Giants let go of an injury prone running back who lost a step.   He joins Philly (with a top medical staff) and not only does he stay healthy, he actually regains his lost speed.

As long as Ronnie Barnes is in charge of the team's medical, this team will be playing with a severe handicap.

I'm not sure I'd call Barkley injury prone.

Not counting this season, where he was clearly rested in game 17. He's missed 8 games in 4 years.

I don't think that's too bad for a RB.

Zeitler's play did decline, but he was also a cap casualty for the other moves DG made to try and make the offense functional.

It wasn't just the injuries with Barkley.  It was the fact that they seemed to linger and hamper his performance when he would return
