I have been looking into Howard; he seems like he could be a quality prospect.

As a Lifelong Buckeye fan, and a GIANTS fan since 1987>, Will Howard has the similar vibe that Eli exhibited, imo . For what it's worth..

GO GIANTS!!!!

He had one flub of a game on the last one vs ×eatchicken SCum ttun, and I feel the HC and the Lead OC were the primary source of that offensive flunkout. But that's just my biased opinion. I'm mostly a Defensive fan, LB, which is why my favorite Buckeye is Chris Spielman, Vrabel honorable mention, and I am a GIANTS fan because of LT.

Perhaps he can miss occasionally, and HC said in a post victory press that Howard missed when his feet weren't right, but said Howard's ready to start at pro. Day's words, not mine. As a casual fan only watching this qb one season, I trusted that qb. Last year's qb who transferred to syracuse I wasn't impressed with at all. But then we'd gotten really spoiled by a long line of really good "COLLEGE" qbs.

I don't see what you guys are seeing in Howard. I see much more of Kent Graham in him than I do Eli. This years version of OSU was filthy. They have two elite running backs, two first round picks at receiver and an excellent offensive line. He didn't hurt OSU and was an effective game manager. I never felt like he was the difference between winning and losing but I do think his poor play cost them against Oregon the first time they met.

I disagree. The qb last year who went away to syracuse wasn't reliable imo, and Howard was a step forward to the direction of the quality of qbs we'd gotten used to. But Howard was NOT as flashy as our previous group of qbs yet he was mostly accurate as his completion stats prove and he could run effectively. He certainly did exhibit more of a Eli type style than you insist.
This Offensive Line Was better than last year which would've affected the abilities of the qb who left for syracuse, sure. Our offensive line did perform Better this year, admittedly.
Lol I'm sure you can find other Buckeye fans who disagree with me. I saw one season of Howard as a Buckeye qb and I trusted him as our team offensive leader. He Did Lead this Championship Team.

Howard is a pedestrian Qb on an elite team, similar to Riley Leonard, whereas Eli literally carried those Ole Miss teams coming off sanctions, with little to no talent, to success.

Howard is in the mold of all those Alabama Qbs, AJ McCarron, Jake Coker, Blake Sims, Greg McElroy etc. Solid game managers that won't lose you football games. In the 4 years at Kansas St Will Howard never wowed anyone with his game play.

Agreed. To compare him to a guy who was the first pick overall who went on to win a couple super bowls is hard to take. Other than being a couple of 6-5 230, white quarterbacks they have very little in common. I'm not the only person who thinks McCord is a better prospect. I posted a tweet earlier this week that said numerous front office personnel now consider McCord the 4th best prospect in this draft behind Ward, Sanders and Ewers.

Lol. The qb who transferred to syracuse wasn't reliable. Time will sort out the riffraff. Howard is Tougher than the previous qb who was easily run off. If there is a Decrepit Offensive Line blocking for the first round drafted qb, or a second round qb in Howard, or a veteran qb bought with big money from else where, then probably won't be Any different than the qb who just left us....

Quote from: Philosophers on Today at 02:20:16 PMThis QB group is Fool's Gold.

This group seems to be less impressive than last year.  Last year, you had arguably 2 or 3 top talents (Caleb and Daniels, and some threw in Maye).  JJ was polarizing

Pennix and Nix was thought to last until the bottom of round one to round 2

This year tier one is Ward and Sanders and most would say they are not elite QB prospects (compared to the top 3 last year).

You have Milrose who arguably has all the physical tools to be an elite QB but something (perhaps the mental aspect) limited his production

You have Dart, who has put up pretty good numbers, but when you watch his film breakdown, you come away wondering what would make him special (I get real Bo Nix vibes from him).

Finally, you have wildcards like Will Howard and Kyle McCord.    They both look impressive in college, but one wonders if they will be anything more than high-end backups.

Things could change over the next month or so, but right now I am getting 2022 vibes from this draft class
