QuoteFormer Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders said Saturday he has not yet decided whether he will throw at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis next month but is confident that he will be the top pick in this year's draft.

We'll get to see in real time how these things affect their prospects.

Cam Ward left his bowl Game at halftime just quiting on the team and doesn't seem to be doing any of the Senior Bowl etc

Sanders is not playing in the shrine bowl and bombed his bowl game.

Dart lit up his bowl Game and is full participation in the senior bowl.

Eager to see how it affects their stock.

It's funny; we are told these sorts of things don't matter.  Yet, we have a pretty significant body of work that suggests that lack of participation in the draft process could have been a red flag (in hindsight).

Caleb Williams skipped much of the process-  His returns to date are, at best, mixed

Marvin Harrison Jr said he was skipping the draft process to prepare for the NFL-  that hasn't worked out well

Evan Neal skipped all the Combine drills and Pro Day drills

Chase Young was another player who skipped the Combine

Admittedly, Jayden Daniels skipped the Combine as well, and he has exceeded all expectations.  So this is far from a hard and fast rule.

Still, I think when players don't participate, you need to wonder why and if their lack of participation was justified

I didn't like Caleb Williams coming out. It was Daniels and Maye for me. I just thought Williams was to erratic.

I was a naysayer all along on Williams.  I thought there was too much noise with him.

Character and grit matter.  One component is doing all or nearly all that's asked of you.  Prospects that dont I would scratch off.  They're the ones who ring the bell.

They figure they have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Injury being the worst thing. They can practice but not play, like Mayfield did.

Doesn't matter. They can only go down if they participate. They will be the first two QBs taken.

Problem is they aren't top 10 prospects in their own class.

This stuff doesn't really move the needle for me anymore. BAU.

The teams that want them will pick them. Simple as that.
