Nothing earth shattering

QuoteIn speaking with sources with the New York Giants, they would like to add more interior talent to go next to Dexter Lawrence. Of course, the quarterback issue is the top priority for the Giants to address this offseason in the NFL Draft and/or in free agency. After cutting Daniel Jones, quarterback is the No. 1 priority. However after that, sources say the positions that New York have in mind to targe include cornerback, interior defensive line, and the offensive line. Sources say they could add a right tackle in free agency or the draft and move Evan Neal inside to guard. General manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll were fortunate to retain their jobs, and they must upgrade the roster for significant improvement next fall to stay in their positions for the 2026 season.

Giants must sign a FA QB to start otherwise all the other teams will know what they will do in the draft.  One thing I learned with the Draft is teams do not want it to be that obvious as to their intentions.

If Giants sign a FA QB, I can see them drafting Mason Graham in round 1 then hoping to get a solid OL prospect available in round 2.

Ideally, if Schoen does his job correctly, he goes into the draft without any glaring needs.  That way he can draft the best athletes, rather than draft for need.

Bobby Skinner said something recently that really resonated with me:  (paraphrased) A couple of years after the draft when you start judging it, no one will talk about how a certain pick filled a need.  Instead, they will just talk about how good the player is and what sort of impact he makes.

That's why at the time I thought taking Barkley was the right move.  They still had Eli and OBJ and if they were going to make a run then taking the best player in the draft would seem to be a good thing to do.  As it turns out...not so much when you dismantle the team around him immediately after taking him.

If this is all true, then they have their priorities correct, in what order would be debatable amongst some, but those are absolutely the positions they should be focused on, alongside finding another weapon on offense also.

If they try to move Neal to G, another plus.

Now let's see if they can execute. Big if, especially QB

I would be hugely disappointed if Graham is the pick. Assuming at least 1 QB goes in top 2, they'll have their pick of Hunter or Carter, 2 guys who play premium positions and who don't play the position of our best player.

With Dex, Graham is a luxury pick that a team with as many holes as the Giants have can ill afford.

A quality RT would be outstanding in FA. I thought I saw Stanley in FA lists.  Elumenor was competent as a back up LT if AT goes down again.

Mason Graham played Dt at Michigan not NT where Dex plays.  He'd play next to Dex.

I will say this again.  When I have watched Abdul Carter play, he takes plays off and gears down.  He is more like Chase Young than a Nick Bosa or Will Anderson.  He will disappoint.

whoever the inside source is all I have to say is

Did you see how poorly they defended the run? Graham changes that.

Think they have to sign an FA QB even if they are convinced Ward or Sanders can be a franchise QB.  Certainly don't want to go into the season with one of them and DeVito as your top-2.

I get that they play different positions, but they're both interior DL. And we can't afford to spend a top 3 pick on a unit that also contains our best player.

And edge, while DL, is not interior DL - and there's a reason why edge is considered a premium position while interior DL is not. There's far more opportunity for edge to have game-changing impact.

I don't agree about Carter, but appreciate your comp. I think he's a difference maker, and I think majority of NFL front offices agree. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he goes top 3 and ahead of Hunter.
