Love was the leader of the defense. You could tell by his eloquent post game comments. He also played excellent.

The moment he left the defense was never the same. Not by a long shot.

Paying a 30 yr old DT 20 million a year isn't sound.

Paying any safety 70 million or 17 million a year is unrealistic.

Or Paying a RB to a huge 2nd contract

Safety, dt, and rb are non premium positions.

So do you want us to resign anyone? It seems like you don't want any player extended beyond their rookie deal which outside of WR, LT and IDL is exactly what the Giants have done. How is that working out for us? You call these non-premium positions yet the teams that signed RBS this offseason (SB, Henry, Jacobs, Mixon) all made the playoffs with 3/4 winning one. You call DL non premium ignoring that we wisely extended DLaw to a huge contract. No one expected Leo Williams to be reigned because of that, not because DL isn't important.

I think you are in the minority of Giants fans and most don't think our front office is "doing the right thing". It's just weird to see a small contingent of online Giants fans act like we are this frugal small market team that can't afford players as if we are the Oakland A's of the NFL.

I think you're assuming a lot but in the history of the league Safety, DT, and RB have always been non premium positions up there with guard, center, and TE. Organizations that aren't a player or so away usually don't pay top dollar for those positions. SB, Henry, Mixon and Jacob's all went to playoff bound teams with super bowl aspirations that thought they were two players or so away and went all in. How's Miles Sanders, Jonathan Taylor, and so on doing? Rbs on a 2nd contract, on a team that doesn't have a Qb makes no sense, because they just flounder. There are exceptions for every rule like Lawrence, Aaron Donald, Jason Kelce but for the most part you dont pay a safety 17 million or a rb 13 million if you don't even have a qb or know you are years away.

So you would have resigned Barkley, Mckinney, and not trade Leonard Williams?

Outside not trading Mckinney and Barkley what has this front office done that is so horrible to you? What multiple transgressions have they had that were horrible?

My list of misses would be

Not getting the Love deal done and losing him for less $
Letting tyrod go after last season
Not tagging Barkley a 2nd time
Or not trading Barkley two years in a row
Not tagging jones (assuming no Barkley tag)
Resigning jones

Starting Thibs at 5 and Neal at 7
Actually the whole 2022 draft
Trading up for Banks

Read between the lines

You call DL non premium ignoring that we wisely extended DLaw to a huge contract. No one expected Leo Williams to be resigned because of that, not because DL isn't important.

I addressed that, there are exceptions to every rule ala Lawrence, Chris Jones, Aaron Donald etc but the league as a whole for 30+ years has de-valued the DT/NT position. When we gave Leo 19 or 20 million a year here people lost their minds, because for a decade plus the Giants organization themselves devalued the position by not ever resigning their own home grown talent at the DT position and instead opting to draft their replacement on a cost controlled contract. It's not me saying I hate those position, or don't want those players, because I wanted to retain Mckinney I thought he was just a bad fit in Martindales system. I was simply saying the league as whole and obviously the Giants devalued those positions when compared to QB, WR, OT, CB etc
