Please, Lenn. Don't post or say anything which might cause even the slightest hesitation in the endless stream of bitching and bashing, whining and trashing that has become the hallmark of those brave enough to give testimony to their victimization and abuse so as to discourage anyone who might be so foolish as to admit being or think of becoming a Giants fan.  Redfaced

Cheers!

With your sunny disposition, I'm sure you're doing God's work recruiting the next generation of Giants fans.

Painter

Sorry! Did my "sunny disposition" get in the way of someone's sniveling? If so, at this point I would leave God out of it not that I wouldn't appreciate his/her help in the future given the weight of the task.

Cheers!, if you don't mind.

Sniveling:  crying and sniffing in a feeble or fretful way.

I have news for you, Larry.  It takes a hell of a lot more toughness and mental fortitude to root for a team knowing it's terrible than sticking one's head in the sand and pretending everything is great.

Agreed.

I am the eternal pessimist. I don't give in to hope unless I see it, so why am I being sort of rah-rah? Because the season is over and if this is all we have to look forward to a continuance of bashing everyone in sight, why bother to be here? Is this what this board has come to, losers lament, losers rehab, whatever?
Whether we like it or not, Schoen will be our GM, and Daboll will be our coach for the entire year next year, so why do you and many others take every chance to just continue to put up thread after thread of continual knocking, even if it is done sarcastically.
We agree, that the Giants stunk and will probably not be much better next year, but we do have some players, as was pointed out in this past year's draft, We are going to add players plus a new QB, that alone is reason for some hope. Maybe Larry was a bit too righteous, but he is still correct. It just seems as if the best Giants message board has become just a place for everyone to come and complain over and over again.
We have FA to look forward to, we have money to spend, and we have the draft so, even for me, the pessimist, I am looking for a better team next year, not staying here just to hear all the whining about Daboll, Schoen, et al. We have a long way to go till opening day, so there is reason to have some hope. Try it sometime.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I don't care how many hits they get on a draft, as long as they lack the eye for talent on the offensive line, this team will keep scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Len,

The Giants have reached a point where they need to earn our praise and optimism.  When Mara spit in the face of the fan base and declared he was sticking with the two guys who managed to make a bad team worse over the past three years he forfeited any benefit of the doubt.

Look, I am not going to tell any fan how to be a fan.  We all need to deal with this in our own way.  The only way I don't think is appropriate is lashing out at your fellow fan.

Look, I initially stayed away from this thread.  I didn't see a point in raining on your parade by pointing out this was only the opinion of one media guy.  I only joined in because I saw the excellent point by @Doc16LT56 about how last year at this time we thought the 2023 draft class was pretty good, but it turned out it wasn't.  I thought that was an important point, and I thought it was worth providing grades for context.

Still if you and Larry or anyone else want to be optimistic, go right ahead.  I can certainly respect that.  The only people I lost for respect for are the reporters who shilled for Schoen and Daboll and the Giants organization that used dishonest tactics to save their undeserved jobs.

Come off it, Rich. You know goddamn well that I am no less unhappy than anyone here with not just the current era of failure but with brief exception the nearly 60-year Super Bowl history of it. Did I not just document that very fact for anyone who didn't already know it? So cut out the self-justifying crap.

What bothers me is the incessant moaning and groaning, whining and bashing and blaming all in the interest of self-pity, Oh! how awful, how abused, how unfair it is to be a Giants whaddyacallit? Hell, there is nothing we can do about it but to come here and bitch, while to not come here and do so would be to let these ever-incompetent swine off the hook. Yeah sure, that's shows how tough we are.

Still, I guess that's more satisfying than imagining that things might get better, they might add a couple of decent talents via Trade or FA, a veteran QB maybe as bridge to a rookie somewhere between picks 3 and 34, perhaps. It may be too much to expect Joe Schoen to come anywhere near last year's Draft success even with 9 picks at his disposal. Of course, that might also require us to put away the Kleenex, get our heads out of the sand and start acting like...what's the term? Oh Yeah! F-A-N-S. I was afraid to say it, so I thought I'd better just spell it.

Cheers!

With all due respect to all posters, I think criticizing fans of a team that is 9-25 in their last two seasons (3-14 most recently) and has basically stunk for over a decade now for being too negative falls under the category of "telling others how to fan."

Again, respectfully, I don't appreciate being instructed by someone else on how to feel about this team. I certainly don't do that to others. Especially when their opinion actually makes sense and is directly correlated to the results on the field.

You want me to be sunny and positive about the Giants? How about they give me an actual, real reason to be? I would love nothing more than that.

There is nothing 'sunny or bright' about this team, but I am just sick of this board being taken over by those who just want to knock everything and anything. We have some positives as I mentioned in my OP, the 2nd best-rated rookie class, yet give some people the opportunity to bash the coaches, the GM, anything Giants-related and they seem to relish in it.
It seems as if some people scour the internet and just find and post things that just fit into their agenda. It does get tiring after a while. We all know who these people are, but when is enough enough. We know the situation we are in, so why is bringing it up twice a day going to change anything?
I'm not saying we should be dancing and singing kumbaya, but no matter how much we may not like it, these are our people for next year, so is that what people are going to continually post about, day after day after day?
TYhe point has been made ad nausseum what good does it do to just keep pounding on it?

One thing which has become undeniable is that for many if not most, Giants fans, criticism must be one directional only, it must be directed toward those who cannot otherwise answer back. Moreover, if has to be done 10 times a day, day in, day out, in case there is someone somewhere who doesn't yet know how dreadful it is to be Giants fan, then so be it.

I suppose we can't expect a Giants fan to have a positive thought before the fact when they are otherwise only really good at second-guessing after the fact. That might be viewed as something of a dilemma, but for a lot of folks here it seems entirely reasonable. Please don't think of that as any sort of criticism as I wouldn't want to upset anyone here whatever the thickness of their skin.

And finally, in no way do I expect you to be sunny and positive given that you have neither the means nor the disposition nor, I suspect the wish to be.

Cheers!

Not only is this judgment patently false but it is also stupid and completely out of line. You don't know a thing about me or anyone else here you don't know personally.

But I get that it's easy to say whatever is on your mind behind the cozy shield of online anonymity. How brave of you.

Hold on, Lenn is in the crosshairs for being too positive?  Where the hell am I???

I kid, I kid.  Carry on.   :surrender:

This is only hyperbole being claimed to justify slamming fellow fans.  A quick look at the topics shows that most of the threads are news or draft-related.

I bet in a past life, you were on the Titanic screaming at passengers to stop complaining about the whole slamming into an iceberg, sinking, and then drowning thing.

While Lenn does bear a strong resemblance to Leo, the rest of it is little more than dull orange wallpaper on which is printed, "The less hope the better we feel"

Cheers! Assuming that's still allowed.
