I heard or read somewhere that apparently, the Giants have interest in Matthew Stafford, however, they do not think they are going to be able to get him so they are talking to the Titans about trading up to the #1 position to draft a QB as they fear they are going to get jumped at #3 from a QB needy team either trading up to #1 or #2.  I have not seen anything about compensation, but this worrisome.  The fact that Sanders was walking around yesterday with baseball caps from four teams and none of the caps were a Giants cap makes me think they may be honing in on Cam Ward.  Is this an Ernie Accorsi 2.0?

I won't believe anything until it happens.

Trust me, this is something I do not want.  I do not want to see us mortgage our future on a very questionable QB.

In order for this to be true all of this has to be true:

The Giants believe Cam Ward is good enough to be their franchise QB for the next decade but Sanders/Dart are not.  Because if they were you'd just sit tight and take one of them at 3.  So they need to trade up to #1 to make sure they get him.

But the Titans also need a QB.  And if they thought those things about Ward they wouldn't even entertain the idea of trading that pick.  So it's not like last year where it was universally known that the first 3 picks were going to be Williams/Daniels/Maye in that order.  And nobody was going to be able to move those teams off those picks. So are we to believe the Giants are smarter than any other team?  That's the sort of thinking that caused Gettleman to draft a crappy college QB and then be surprised when he turned into a crappy NFL QB.  If anything the Giants have proven over the last decade to be dumber than most teams.

MEANWHILE

Giants had significant enough interest in trading for Stafford giving up picks and then signing him to a 100 million dollar contract to be their #1 QB next season.  If you actually believed Ward to be so good as to trade UP to ensure you get him, why on earth are you entertaining the idea of trading for and then signing Stafford?

I just don't get how all of that can be true at the same time.  So something doesn't add up here.  Either that or Schoen is on tilt and so desperate thanks to Mara's idiotic mandate that he's willing to do absolutely anything to get a QB regardless of logic or sense.

Phil: I sure hope there is nothing about that rumor that is true.  Full of IMO bad ideas.

I can see Stafford as a bridge guy, but without time to throw...(and I don't like him anyway... never did).

Also, none of the QB's is worth #1 overall(costs us picks, and look at the players we'd be passing up). I'd learn to live with a trade up only if the next thing out of their mouths is... "we believe he's the next Lawrence Taylor (or the next Darrelle Revis)." We all might disagree with such a remark, but at least we'll know why they traded up.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

For those who wanted Schoen and Daboll back, this is what that ridiculous decision spawned. I'm not surprised at all.

Don't waste your time on rumors.

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

I'd rather give up a 3rd to move up to 1 to take cam Ward than stay at 3 and get Sanders.

No it's not both.  It's Stafford or the #1 pick to draft probably Ward.  They wont do both IMHO.

Jclayton92

Supposedly Vikings are tagging Darnold with the intention to trade him per rumors at the combine.

Rinaken

Am I the only one who doesnt want to trade for a QB, sign a QB to megadeal (Darnold) or take Ward/Sanders in the first round?

andrew_nyGiants

There is no QB in this draft worthy of a #3 overall. If they panic because they believe that they NEED Ward or Sanders and give up more picks to jump two spots...that should be the end of them.

Tish where are you?!! Speak up!!
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!
