Is this the first time you can remember with no QB?

Given the broad and consistent contempt in which all things Giants have been held in terms of personnel and cap position, it's hard to imagine anything much more effective than was a spare Lock and Cutlet behind Jones albeit whose failure they failed to anticipate.

Btw, it will be interesting to learn, should the situation present itself, how effective a plan the Vikings will have had with Jones backing up whomever they decide is to be QB1, McCarthy or Darnold. Of course, in the meantime it might make more sense for us to focus on who the Giants yet may have at QBs 1 and 2 in 2025 than to worry about when they may once have had none. Still, it's hard to change a habit when there is no Pessimist Anonymous to look to for help.

Cheers!

The Giants could have had at least a placeholder had they:

1) signed Justin Fields last year when he visited the team

2) drafted a QB in round one

3) drafted Milton on day 3 last year

Instead, the team that prides itself on scouting QBs (how did they miss on Jones) went with Drew Lock last year, knowing their QB was questionable in terms of proving to be a franchise QB and coming off a major injury.

Larry. I wouldn't shock me if I O'Connell actually improves Jones dramatically..he's that good..Darnold shows that...and that Rams coaching tree is some of the best..

Spider.  It's possible, I suppose but I would want to see how far Darnold comes in repeating without a final "when push comes to shove" flop flop for which O'Connell deserves at least some of the blame, wouldn't you think?

In any case, I'm not ready to start speculating about Daniel Jones, who we know was capable of winning a playoff game and thus its subsequent trap of Schoen/Daboll. Who knows, but the fact that Darnold failed in his first effort in 7 years may save O'Connell from a similar fate should he remain the Viking's QB1.

As folks here know all too well, while I may have strong opinions, I am no pessimist. I am, however, a realest in recognizing how chancy and unpredictable the NFL so often proves to be. Thus, I avoid prediction and projection- read guessing- whenever possible.

Cheers!
