Quote from: MightyGiants on May 21, 2025, 08:08:51 PMIn the end all of this is just an exercise in trying to predict the future.  None of us are really capable of doing that regularly with any sort of accuracy.   So all we can do is give our predictions and explain our reasoning.   It's not really proper to pretend any of us know better than another in these sorts of exercises.  As you suggested uncertainty is high.

I agree with your premise, Rich @MightyGiants  , and that is not at all to dismiss what @MrGap92 is saying here. Like you've stated, identifying what we KNOW, we can use principles of Risk/Isse/Opportunity Management. What we DO NOT KNOW, we use principles of managing Uncertainty which, in many cases, involves analyzing the variables and probability weights and measures to gain a baseline. As unknown variables become known, we can update the model accordingly to increase the confidence in its output. But enough of the academia part of it.

I've attempted to use a top-down leadership Mission Statement to Values, Behaviors, Strategies, Strategic Imperatives and so on, to establish alignment that what you see happening on the field SHOULD seamlessly align with the Values, Behaviors, Mission Statement and, most important, the culture of the entire company, organization, enterprise or however you choose to describe your top-echelon entity. That's why I try to use "Imperatives" which I believe are necessary for the Giants to strive towards, and MEET or EXCEED AT, in order to have any chance for success not only on the playing field, but in each of the respective organizations under the "Board." They're broad but, in reality, are too detailed at the Mara/Tisch level. At Schoen's level, some are, some are not. But I'm just using these freely to underscore three areas I believe the Giants must improve on in order to achieve success. I'm not going to list them here as they can be found in many of my older posts.

But I am quite curious to learn what are fellow posters here consider important to them in terms of "Metrics that Matter" as far as the Giants' ability to succeed. If someone believes Strength of Schedule, from last season's performance, has relevance in predicting 2025 performance, I would be very interested in hearing about it as I know you would.

Keep 'em coming! Why does 2024 performance, with players from 2024, who may or may not be on the same teams in 2025, correlate to performance in 2025?

Did any of us expect the Commanders to go the NFC Championship Game last year? How would we have predicted that last season?

Peace!
