So said retired NFL wideout T.J. Houshmandzadeh in a recent segment on FOX Sports. He believes Daboll to be a top coach and one of the NFL's most underrated, an opinion I have seen shared by other folks in the League.

It could be true, it's certainly possible. In any case, he should have a pretty good, and a better chance to prove it this year, and he damn well may have to.

Cheers!

He is certainly under the gun this year.

I struggle to understand how a coach who just fairly recently took down NFL Coach of The Year honors could be called "underrated" though.

Top coach or top head coach?  Difference.

You know Larry. I was like a swinging door about him last year, going from' giving him another shot with a decent  QB' to 'don't let the door hit you on the way out. ' He had games where we just sat there scratching our heads about some of the moves he made, regardless of who the QB was and other games he really tried to inspire our guys who were completely overwhelmed most of the time.
Mara said give him another chance, and with a new QB, he will have to produce. If he is, as was said he was, we should be a much better team out there, but there are no more excuses for him.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

How many wins makes him a great head coach this season? 9? 10? If he accomplishes that against the schedule they have now, he deserves accolades. But 5 wins? 6? Or even 7? Does he deserve to return? Will there be more excuses? As of now based on his dismal record he is far from a great head coach. Though he might actually be a great assistant coach.

I think six wins or fewer automatically gets him fired, and there will be a decent chance Schoen does as well.

7 or 8 wins and I think it depends on a how the season plays out exactly. Nothing automatic with either of these outcomes.

9 wins or more (ie a winning record), and I am pretty certain everyone comes back. Especially if they make the playoffs.

9 wins and he'll he may get another COTY. Why don't we let John Mara make that decision as it is his to make, is it not? Oh wait! I see now, this is a how many wins contest. Yes, of course.

Cheers!

No more Daniel Jones to blame.  This season we will see what sort of coach Daboll is, one way or the other.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

When he had his successful season, the Giants played 2 top ten defences.

This season, and at this current juncture, the schedule looks horrendous - if he can win 6 games, I think he'll keep his job.

However, if it comes to playing the hard teams and they are facing back up QBs owing to injuries, and they lose - he won't survive.

All in all, it's really hard to predict until the games have been played.

Sadly, as Giant fans, we do have to let John Mara make that decision. His decisions have put them where they are now.

The problem with Daboll is he lost some of his moxy last year.

Gone was the 1st year gunslinger who went for the 2 point conversion win during week 1. Last year he coached with nerves and uncomfortableness. He was TERRIBLE at challenge vs no challenge and that may be on the people upstairs advising him. He called a lot of strange plays and didn't show consistency

Daniel Jones

The offense could not evolve with him.

I think with the new look room, and a restocked defense, we see a much better team all around, let's hope for another strong draft.

If we fired Daboll at the end of last year, who would we have signed that was better? A retread? I just dont know that there is that many up and coming coordinators right now.

You mean better than 3-14?
