If Dex, Burns, and Thibs light it up then it will allow Bobby Ok to feast and do what he does best. He's easily the best pure Mike in the Division already and was low key the best player on the field last season.

Tyrod Taylor led the NFL in BTTR last year. Meaning he completed the hardest throws with the highest value of any qb in the league last year.
I don't get the non-issue part though
Do you see Tyrod returning somehow? The Buffalo guys loved Tyrod and grossly overpaid him
Quote from: sxdxca38 on May 27, 2024, 12:25:25 PMOnce again I'm sure you're a nice person in real life, but let's think about this. They already benched Devito last year for Taylor so it's a non-issue.
The reason why Tom Brady was able to start at QB was because Drew Bledsoe got injured. If Bledsoe never got injured, Brady never would have played.
If BB had started a 6th rd pick in Brady over Bledsoe in 2001 he would have been fired.
The same applies to Devito.
If Daboll and Schoen bench DJ for Devito, an undrafted player, and have him start the season and he fails it would be a fireable offense, and there is no way Daboll and Schoen would do that.
Quote from: BluesCruz on May 27, 2024, 07:37:18 AMLets hope that does not happen. Do you really want to hang your hat on Jones and Drew Lock? Last year I believe DeVito pretty much ran the team in pre-season. He started 6-7 more games during the season. In that respect he is our most seasoned QB using 2023 data.Drew Lock smashed Devito in almost every single analytical measure last year. Hence why we signed him.
He looks the part out there. Jones looked tentative and lost before injury. He. basically could not move the team downfield. I have no idea what Lock brings to the party.
There is definitely a bias towards tall, strong QBs- Tom Brady, Josh Allen, Eli Manning types. That overlooks the fact Joe Montana, Drew Brees, Dan Marino, and Fran Tarkenton were not overly tall and populate the top 10 QBs of all time list.
In todays NFL you sink or swim with the QB. I'd prefer to not sink because of tall man bias.
Quote from: BluesCruz on May 24, 2024, 03:23:41 PMI don't understand the drew lock acquisitionDevito carried a water bottle to the bench with him at the end of last season.
Tommy has already proven he can carry the team if asked
Lock on the other hand has proved nothing in the NFL
Quote from: Philosophers on May 25, 2024, 06:04:08 PMIsn't 29% really high?Yeah but I don't know if it's relative to games played that season because he started less than most.
Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 24, 2024, 11:33:54 PMWe've seen the horrific stats about the amount of time DJ has had to throw before pressured or sacked, and I wonder if anyone can find those stats for his rookie year.2.5 with a pressure rate of 29%
For the hell of it I just watched a video of his rookie highlights and while granting they were highlights he was doing a lot of things that he supposedly now can't do - throwing the ball down the field, throwing guys open, putting the ball into tight spots, hitting guys in stride so they could get YAC, etc. But I also noticed that his protection seemed to hold up better than it did in 2023, which seems to have been a tipping point.
So I wonder if he really did have more time in the pocket in his rookie year or if that impression was just an artifact of watching a highlight video. I do know that his rookie OL gave up just over half the number of sacks than the 2023 OL but I'd really like to compare those 'time to pressure' stats if anyone has them.
BTW, watching that video reminded me of what a beast Golden Tate was in getting YAC. And how good Sterling Sharpe was back then.
Quote from: Philosophers on May 24, 2024, 11:00:20 AMBelton has always seemed ill-suited to play any type of free safety role. He played the Cash (hybrid LB/SS) role in college. I see him and Pinnock as more similar players therefore I believe Nubin will eventually replace Belton. They are just making him earn it.
Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 24, 2024, 01:41:34 PMI'm not as down on Neal as some. He had injury issues, was adjusting to moving to the right side, and had a terrible position coach. That's a lot for a young man to overcome. Not to mention having mckethan or whatever warm body was next to him.
