Mr G: To me, all of the rumors/leaks the past few days point to the Giants trading up fore Abdul Carter first ver all. Obviously, it's unclear whether they are false rumors to disguise the team's actual intent, actual leaks showing utter incompetence by the "braintrust" or merely stuff being made up out of whole cloth because it's silly season. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

At #3, they will come away with a very good player.  Trading up is the worst possible scenario for me   :boooo:

I saw these reports, but I didn't bring them here because from a salary cap perspective there is almost nothing to gain by cutting him.

The Giants would save $3.5 million (minus the cost of his replacement)

Against creating nearly $11 million in dead cap money.

The wind blew, the xxxx flew, and we couldn't see for an inch or two. As Jughead used to say: Relax, Archie, Relax.

Cheers!

Dayne: Yes, but IMO the REAL nightmare is trading up FOR A QB. However, if they do that I'll also be a bit excited because Shoen and Daboll already have one foot on a banana peel, so it would mean they have a very high degree of confidence (hooray!) or desperation (ugh!) about the QB they choose. Larry: First question you ever asked me that I can't answer. Best choice as of today is... probably both. Bob

What exactly does Banks mean when he says "first real ILB the last 16 yrs"?

If it's what I think it means then it's extremely disrespectful to all those who worked and gave their best for 16 yrs - whatever their best was.

I'm assuming because we haven't had many good ILBs in quite some time. Aside from Antonio Pierce, who else have we had since that has been able to play at a medium to high level?

We had Martinez for a year I guess, guys like Jameel McClain and Jon Beason were also short lived, solid but not spectacular.

Just hasn't been a position of strength for us.

He had a very lackluster year. idk if it was the scheme or whatever, but he looked lost and uninterested.

So did most players on that D. Bowen is not a fit for this personell.

Bowen could have used Okereke better. Okereke could have handled it better (by late season he was checked out). The real fault is the process and decision-making that saw us switch from an ultra aggressive DC in Martindale to a much more passive, bend don't break guy in Bowen. That built in a lack of continuity and increased the risk of wide variance in individual performance. We can only hope it settles down a bit year two in Bowen's scheme as Okereke and others understand it better and adapt.
