I enthusiastically recommend the movie "The Good Nurse" on Netflix.

Starring Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain, this is a very well acted and directed film based on a true story about a male nurse who was accused of murdering hospital patients. I particularly liked the way this story was told. No gimmicks like constant flashbacks or other common, filler type techniques used. Just straight-up rock solid storytelling carried by the talent of the actors. Redmayne and Chastain are stars at the top of their games, but the supporting acting is also strong in this. I can firmly recommend it. Very creepy story that is well executed by all involved.

Is this based on true events or just a pure work of fiction?

If you guys get tired of the serial killers and horror stories and might like a light hearted funny little series try "Hart of Dixie"  My wife likes the hallmarky stuff and once in awhile we run across a show that gets us both hooked. It's an older series 2011-2016 but holds up very well. You can get it on Freevee. Amazon prime will also take you to Freevee.

Sounds good. I really liked it. Obviously not a pleasant topic, but it's just one of those movies that is well done from start to finish. Doesn't try to be something it's not or get cute with a lot of film making gimmicks. Just delivers the story in a very convincing, well acted way.

I spent the weekend watching several things:

Medieval- from IMDB "The story of fifteenth century Czech icon and warlord Jan Zizka, who defeated armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman EmpRome.

Basically a mercenary brings his people together. Gave me low budget Braveheart vibes with Ben foster and James Caan.

Barbarians- A German Netflix TV series of which their are two seasons. It's about Romes stranglehold on the Germanic tribes and them forming together against rome.

It was phenomenal, I see it almost like the German version of the last kingdom which in my opinion was a phenomenal show itself.

I continue to watch Seal Team, East New York, S.W.A.T. and The Equalizer on cable all of which I highly enjoy for their own reasons.

Juat finished House of The Dragon, and The Lord of The Rings shows, I enjoyed both shows but Paddy as viserys on house of the dragon was absolutely phenomenal.

Lastly I got to see Black Panther 2 early this weekend and it was easily the best sequel I've seen in forever. Like Terminator 1 & 2 in my opinion you need black panther 1 to tell black panther 2 but both sequels are better in every way to the 1st installments.

I've watched Black Adam last weekend. Total waste of time.

I wanted to put a show on the radar here that is not yet but that I think has a chance to be promising.

"Tulsa King"

The reason I'm interested in it is because its creator/director is Taylor Sheridan, who among other good things is behind the show "Yellowstone." He has done a few very good movies too, including "Wind River" starring Jeremy Renner.

In addition to Sheridan being involved in this, he has Terrance Winter as one of the writers. Winter was the main writer in "The Sopranos", which for me at least is the best show in the history of television. Also, Winter wrote a lot for "Boardwalk Empire", which was not as good as The Sopranos but was certainly way above average.

Sly Stallone is the lead actor in this new series. At first thought he may seem washed up, but he looks like he's taken care of himself and should be convincing enough in a mob boss role. I'm ok with him. I've always liked Sly anyway.

I have no idea if this show will in fact be good, but I'm very intrigued based on the people involved.

My understanding is the show will premiere on Nov 13 on Paramount.

 On your review, I watched The Good Nurse last night. I did like it, maybe not as enthusiastically as you, but again, I did like it.
 Just some background, I ALWAYS stay away from doctor-type shows and movies of people getting sick and dying. I have never seen movies like Brian's song or any other movie in that genre. I do NOT watch any sort of medical or doctor-related TV shows or series as they always have stories of someone getting sick and watching them die. For my own reasons, it is just not MO and I avoid them at all costs.

I was about 1/2 hour into The Good Nurse and it was dark, and a bit dreary, and when the elderly lady passed, I thought, Oh NO, why am I watching this? But I did stay with it and once the police got involved it was more a murder mystery than a medical thing so I stayed and enjoyed the rest.

I knew about this guy, but the words at the end where they feel he was responsible for over 400 deaths, I said WOW.

It is Dark, and many times depressing, so anyone wanting to watch, bear that in mind, but it is riveting as they try to get the guy and it is really hard to believe the way the hospitals keep these things so under wraps. THAT alone is scary.

It's certainly grim, especially in some scenes in the first half, but it's a grim subject along with being very creepy. I do agree that the second half is better than the first, but I thought the first half was necessary to really show the havoc this deranged person was wreaking on families and the misery he was causing.

Even though I realize the first half was very unpleasant for you, I'm glad you stuck it out and found it to be worthwhile in the end.

The fact that nobody at any of these hospitals ever got in criminal trouble is a total disgrace. These hospitals are basically complicit in many of these deaths.

Like you Lenn, I tend to stay away from depressing subject matter. I watch tv and movies for escape and don't want to be dragged down while trying to enjoy myself. Also like you, I will watch it as I see this movie as more of a mystery with trying to find the killer and bring him down. I like to see the police work and how they piece things together.

While we were away, part of the time we stayed with some cousins that my wife found thru a DNA test my son did. Anyway, we were with them over this past weekend in Vermont, and they all wanted to watch a 'light' movie. Ongoing thru Netflix, a movie popped up, "Hello, My Name Is Doris', starring a wonderful performance by Sally Field. Since my darling wife's name is Doris, a perfect match and we all sat down to watch.

Just briefly, Sally Field plays a sort of spinster daughter who lived with and took care of her elderly mother. The movie opens with the mother's funeral, so that's not giving anything away. Doris (Sally) is now alone, and she is a very bit quirky. She works in some office and sort of gets a crush on a very young and handsome new employee there and does what she can to try to get romantically involved.
It was a very cute movie, and I simple adore Sally Fields and haven't seen much of her lately. This movie won't win any awards, but it was decent enough entertainment and we all enjoyed it very much.

 A page or so back, we were talking about Curb Your Enthusiasm. While we were traveling, I always take my Fire Stick so we can watch what we like. I remembered that we haven't seen some of the last few seasons, so we picked up this wonderful series on Season 9 which we finished the other day. We still have 2 more seasons to go and look forward to some hilarity.

Just me, but I am starting to find Leon a bit over the top. He can be a funny guy in the show, but he needs to cut down on all the cursing etc.

Leon is an over the top character. He is funny, but I can only take him in doses.
