I started watching "The Afterparty" on Apple+. I liked "Only Murders in the Building" and this is sort of like it. There are two seasons, 5 episodes each. Also, a little like "Knives Out", without the high paid actors and actresses in Knives out or Only Murders in the Building (well, second season has a couple of well known stars, Elizabeth Perkins of "Big" fame, Ken Jeong of "Hangover" fame...did you know that Jeong is actually a licensed physician??? He quit as a doctor to get into acting...but I digress). It's not bad if you like murder mysteries that remind you of the game "Clue". Bides the time until something great drops

Yeah after-party season 1 was solid and I'm on season 2 now.

I'm excited for Billions coming back. That's a very strong show. Giamatti and Lewis are both top notch.

Man I honestly think it may be in my top 10 all time, I'd have to check but it's beyond good.

I've taken a detour on what I would normally watch and found some to be interesting and worthy of sharing. I watched "Heart of Stone" on Netflix. Pretty good. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars based on my love of action films and I have a secret crush on Gal Gadot, LOL

Stuff I've watched for the last couple of months (and note, I've found I prefer TV series over movies because I like to binge)

I watched 8 seasons of "Suits" on Netflix and the 9th season on Peacock (don't know why Netflix didn't have the last season  ) Not a fan of Megan Markle, but I found myself hooked and watched the entire 9 seasons. In the end, I found Markle to be a decent actress; however, she is far from the star of the show and this was long before she and Prince Harry hooked up

Second season of "Lincoln Lawyer" was great. I hope this show goes 20 seasons, dropping four a year, LOL

Rewatched "Peppermint" (Netflix) and is still one of my favorite kick ass movies of a vengeful woman turned killer...and for good reason. One of my few 5-stars I'd give a movie

Also I'm following "Only Murders in the Building" (Hulu) which I love

Binge watched "Fairly Legal" on Peacock which is basically a Rom-Com legal show (I like legal shows) which was light and watchable. Only two seasons and 23 episodes

"Treason" on Netflix is actually a very good spy-thriller-mystery series. Only five episodes, but a really decent show

Currently watching three series (bouncing back and forth): "Murdoch Mysteries" (Hulu) (has like 16 seasons) and "Hardy Boys" (Hulu). Murdoch Mysteries is set in early 1900's and is a detective who solves murders. Interesting as you get to meet Nikoli Tesla and other historical figures. The Hardy Boys has turned out to be a really good show. I'm only up to the first 5 or 6 episodes, but it's got me hooked. It's three seasons long...so far.

Started watching a third series, "Who is Erin Carter" on Netflix last night. Seems promising and I like watching women who can kick ass with the big boys

We are on the 7th season of Suits. I like it but at times the writing is poor and too much Schmoopy between Mike at Markle. I actually would like her character to be offed as I hate her. I don't have Peacock. Can I cancel at any time?

Without being a spoiler, you will never see Markle again by the end of Season 7. Peacock is actually a worthy streaming service in my opinion. I got it for 4.99 a month and got an offer to upgrade it to "no commercials" for 5.00 a month  (one whole penny to not have to deal with commercials...duhh. Who on earth would watch commercials to save 1 cent a month  ) They have some of the oldies like Columbo, Cheers, Married with Children, etc. A pretty good collection of westerns and comedies ("Change Up" is freakin hillarious), etc.

Pretty sure you can get a 10-day free trial which would give you the time to watch the 9th season of "Suits" and catch "Change Up"

No commitment, cancel at any time. I believe that "Basic Peacock" is totally free now anyway - you have to pay only if you don't want to get commercials. But even if you pay as I do, you can cancel whenever you want

As far as the 9th and final season of "Suits", it's 10 episodes long and is worth it as it kinds of wraps up all the characters lives. Which is nice because it doesn't leave you hanging like some series do

I finished "Who is Erin Carter" (Netflix) the other day and it turned out even better than expected. Only a 7 episode series. Starts fast, goes slow for a couple episodes before really getting gritty in the last couple of episodes. Well worth the watch if you like thrillers with lots of action and a lot of blood, gore, and death. Most of the action, though, is in the last three episodes, but it's worth it sitting through the lull period IMHO (setting in Barcelona, Spain, but everyone speaks English)


I also finished "Treason" (Netflix) which is only 5 episodes and like "Who is Erin Carter", the plot builds to a very intense climax with unexpected results. Well worth watching for fans of thrillers where plenty of people die (setting in London)

I just finished watching two "limited series". Netflix has "The Devil in Ohio" and Amazon has "The Consultant".
To be honest, I was disappointed in both.
The Devil in Ohio has Emily Daschanel (Bones) as Suzanne, doctor / social worker of some sort who comes across a girl who escapes from a cult. Thru flashbacks, we see that Suzanne had a rough and very similar upbringing.
Anyway, the girl, Mae, gets taken in by Suzanne, which disrupts her entire family. Without giving anything away I will say the show was interesting enough, but at the end it left me shaking my head trying to figure out how things turned out the way they did, and why supposedly intelligent people did such dumb things.

The Consultant, on Amazon, stars Christoph Waltz. A video gaming company loses its young owner / CEO to a murder and Waltz just shows up unannounced as a "Consultant" hired by the now deceased CEO. Waltz plays his part to quirky perfection and has everyone in the office on edge and wondering who or what he actually is.
This show introduced new characters and plot twists in almost every episode, but in the end, it left me with more questions than answers. Nothing made sense and I was at a total loss as to figure out any of it.

Anyway, these were two shows that started off interesting and showed promise, but in the end I thought I just wasted my time with both of them. I would be interested to hear others opinions on them if anyone takes a chance on either one.

Just finished up "Special Ops: Lioness last night. My wife and I loved it. Gripping and exciting throughout. Great cast too.

We are in the middle of "Winning Time", season 2. The HBO one about the 80s Lakers. I'd say it's definitely good and very watchable, but nothing I would call elite. I'm enjoying it since I am into the subject matter, but if I didn't care about basketball I'd probably just think it was ok. To be fair John C Riley is awesome in it as former Lakers owner Jerry Buss. His performance is award winning caliber.

I am also dabbling with a show that has been on my list for a while now that I hadn't gotten around to called "Blackbird." It's on Apple. It's about a drug dealer who has to go to prison and is offered a deal that involves getting information about another prisoner for the Feds, where if he gets them what they want, he can go free. I've only watched three episodes so far. Seems solid enough, albeit nothing exceptional.

Of the three the one I would recommend most strongly is the first one. Every episode of that is action-packed right up to the end. People who are less high on it talk about it being unrealistic, and I get that and am sure that is fair criticism, but I don't mind suspension of disbelief when the content I'm consuming is first rate entertainment. If I want perfect realism I'll watch a documentary or read a non-fiction book.

Since I have been 'off' for a while, I just finished reading some of the shows others have enjoyed.
It would be too numerous to tell what we have watched over the past 3-4 months, so if anyone mentions something, and I can comment on it, I will.
We have dropped Netflix so anything anyone mentions about that, I simply pass over. Maybe, one day, we will go back on, but as of now, we have Disney+, Paramount+, Hulu, Showtime, Peacock, and MAX so who has time to watch everything?

As of now, and I think I've mentioned it numerous times, my wife will only watch certain things so I have to be careful in what we watch together. Right now we are watching Succession on HBO. I had heard so many wonderful things about this series and people making it out to be on a par with some of the top 5 series of all time. NO WAY. We enjoy it to a point, but we find most of the characters just repulsive, and stupid and I can add a few more adjectives. The storyline is very good, but they veer off so many times, and, at times it is just so slow. We are finished with season 4 and will watch the last season, but why this show got such raves has simply passed me by.

On the other hand, I watched 1883, and then 1923 and simply loved them both, so I started watching Yellowstone, and I simply LOVE it. Shows like this are right up my alley, modern-day westerns, with great acting, great storylines, and enough action for anyone to be happy. Kevin Costner is simply great, but the daughter steals every scene she is in. Loved the 'Cowboy' effect. I can't say enough good things about this show.
I can only watch this when my DW isn't around as she had no interest in it, so it takes me longer to complete a season than I would like. That said, I am just finishing up Season 5 (the first half). There will be a second half to season 5, but Costner is suing people, and with the writer's strike, who knows when it will drop.

One other point, I have a hard time watching series that drop once a week, so I will wait until the entire series has dropped and then watch it as we choose. We did that with.

We do watch other things along the way. We just watched this great documentary about the 1968 concert Elvis did on TV that basically resurrected his career. They didn't show the entire show, but many great parts, and how it was done, why it was done. If you are a fan of 'The King' it should be a must-watch.

We also watched a great 5 part series (not sure of where we watched" but it was about the UFO phenomenon. It was exceptionally well done and not like some of these off-the-wall guys who swear aliens are walking among us. I'll see if I can find where to watch if anyone is interested.

And, just another thing. Whoever mentioned Justified, I LOVED this series when it was on FX and watched it faithfully. I know a new season has been on, but, as I said, I will wait for the entire season to be aired and then watch, it is definitely on my 'To watch' list. If you have never seen Justified, I would recommend it very much.

Yellowstone and all the spinoff shows are simply top notch television. We have loved all of that. My 80 year old Dad does too. I don't know anyone who doesn't like those shows. The characters and plot-lines are great, and the cinematography/scenery is awesome.

Succession is not for everyone. I agree that the characters are all unlikable, but that is of course totally intentional. I can understand why some may not like the show. We found the first two seasons to be excellent, with seasons three and four somewhat disappointing relative to the first two (but still good).
