I was just perusing Daniel Jones college stats and incredibly he threw for 2600
yds 2 years in a row and 14 Passing TDs one year, and 22 the next

WHAT in the freaking world was Gettleman thinking???

He is the same performer now that he was at Duke.  This is baffling information

We are essentially asking him to become the QB he never ever was....5 years in the book for the Giants.  And people have the nerve to tell me he is better than Tommy D- a guy who tore it up in high school for a nationally ranked school and had a very good college career playing for big time schools- Syracuse and Illinois.

Then we offer him a quarter Billion dollars to stay

I have no words...we root for a twilight zone team

"Tommy Devito can absolutely be, at least, Joe Flacco, if he has protection, a reliable running back and more than one reliable receiver.

Where I think he has a leg up compared to Daniel Jones is that he is a much quicker decision maker... He might not have the same arm strength or break away running speed but he goes through his progressions much quicker, makes a decision, and rips it. This is a quality probably gained from playing behind shitty offensive lines most of his life, and it's going to serve him well in the NFL.

His surprising success here so far is a great problem to have."

I am not a huge fan of the time-to-throw metric because it's impacted by factors outside a QB's control, like scheme, how quickly and often receivers get open, and pass rush (scrambling or moving to avoid pressure increases TTT).  However, if you compare QBs on the same team, it can provide some indication of how quickly a QB is processing (admittedly, factors don't stay perfectly constant throughout a season).

So, when you look at TTT for the 2023 Giants:

Taylor- 2.83
Jones- 2.85
DeVito- 3.09

It's pretty clear that random poster on Reddit literally had no idea what he was talking about.

I thought he made a good point, and he spoke of time to process his progressions
not time to throw- if you dump it off all the time, sure that is quick

to my eyes..... admittedly subjective
Jones holds the ball too long
what your missing is he often just does not throw it
he's afraid to throw it
at least throw it out of bounds for goodness sakes

and when he does throw it- has he gone through his progressions?  or just heaved it to the designated receiver...... because the results overall are horrific
and the won-loss record frightening and its a linear corelation to his college career stats

most of the time he just dumps it off....to Barkley....oh right he's gone

and one more thing- Im getting creamed on this poll  LOL

This is a decision made, fait accompli. Welcome it as a time to stop the Jones hate, covertly or otherwise. The same can be said for the Ronnie Barnes trope, and long past the time to question Gettleman's decision in 2018.

It's the sort of petty egoism which is far more detrimental than it is constructive and supportive of any notion of better days and years to come for Our Heroes. That is, of course, unless we really are the whiny fools we sometimes seem to be.
