The Giants O-line was being dominated by Jets 3rd stringers.  Yet, three of the guys on that line were high 1st-round-pick, Neal, 2nd-round pick JMS, and 3rd-round pick Ezeudu.

That is not the sort of drafting that wins championships.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Schoen, thus far at least, has done a very poor job with the O line.

The only thing I'd say is the line looked pretty good last week to me with the starters in. Jones was well protected in that game. Moreover the line has players who played well last year that we didn't have last year (Van Roten, Eleumenor, etc).

So I'm choosing to remain hopeful that our starting O line will be an improved unit this year.

Neal has played what 20 something NFL games.

I'm interested to see what he can do when healthy, under the new coaching regime and with a better supporting cast.

Reese and Gettleman didn't Draft any better. Accorsi set the team up for seven years until they got old.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Actually Gettleman did since he took Andrew Thomas over 3 other tackle prospects and he's an Pro Bowler now.

I don't think he's the one who is actually scouting the players. Funny how GM's and coaching staffs change and we still can't draft offensive linemen.

True. He gets that one, and Lemieux, Hernandez, and Big George. Actually he neglected the O-line after all that big talk about Hog Mollies.

He also signed Nate Solder, which goes down as one of the worst contracts the Giants have handed out in the last two or perhaps three decades.

In his defense - Solder was the only option left to play left tackle after the Flowers failure. Solder was better than any other option on the Roster and the only Free Agent OLT available.

Did anyone else notice the youth of the scouts now as seen on Hard Knocks? Not that it's a bad thing, but previous regimes had a mix of veteran and youth. Schoen has actually cut the Scouting Department and has what looks to be entry level people only.

Scouts can be used in a variety of ways.  Some may be to actually draw conclusions while others can be just to compile data/information.  Maybe Schoen is using his scouts differently than say Gettleman did.

It was still a terrible contract and terrible decision. Solder was the literal definition of a JAG, and they handed him marquee money. No matter what the circumstances are, there is never any justification for doing that. Gettleman really hurt the team with that move.

But that was a corner they backed themselves into by staying with Flowers too long, no?
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

That's exactly what happened.

It was as phony an attempt at fixing the OL as Gettlemen's Boston accent.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!
