I agree he should be given a chance at Guard, but expectations need to be managed.  When a player is doing so many things wrong, I think it has now evolved that he is mentally broken -- not trusting himself with any part of the physical execution.  Sort of like a golfer who does not trust his golf swing at all so everything breaks down.

Maybe next time draft a RT rather than drafting a LT and plan on having him change sides.  One of his problems may just be that he is just not capable of switching sides and that just wreaked his game.  Especially under the coaching of Johnson.

And if that doesn't work, given the draft capital investment let's try him at QB next. I mean WTH, Right?! LOL

What a stupid comment, congrats. If they're going to pay him millions and carry him on the roster then move him somewhere on the line where he won't be as big a liability, or cut him. If they do and he becomes a pro bowl caliber guard elsewhere like Flowers I'm sure guys like you will complain that we weren't smart enough to do it ourselves.

I think that has been the problem. If the Giants had not taken him with a top 10 pick, someone else would have. This isn't a scouting issue. Every team in need of a left tackle wanted him. He was better in college than he has played so far in his injury riddled NFL career. Specifically, a simple speed rush - just go around him - has been far too successful. Every Edge/DE in the league has THAT move.  He has to move his feet better or he won't be successful.

Not great, but not as bad as I first thought. The sack he gave up on the speed rush was horrendous though.

Similar to Jones, Neal has not played in awhile and to expect there to be no rust is an illusion. 

In the latest "Talkin' Giants" podcast, Bobby Skinner makes the claim that Saturday's game was the official final "nail in the coffin" for Evan Neal as an offensive tackle for the New York Giants, at least far as he sees it and as far as there being any hope that he can even be average. He mentioned the same thing in his taped conversation with Rich that you can watch in the thread Rich provided. The follow-up point that he made was that Neal needs to start working at guard ASAP and that the project of him playing tackle for this team, even in a swing role, should be abandoned.

Thoughts on this?

It's what all our eyes saw.  I saw a man reacting late then moving at half the speed necessary and when strength was needed, he got pushed back.

I said play him at guard but honestly, I dont even think he has any heart.
