Funny how Tiki finally realized what most of have known for years.

Quote from: TDToomer on October 03, 2024, 03:53:11 PMIf one is discussing the possibilities of drafting a QB early in 2026 then yes that is suggesting to just continue to suck throughout 2025 which in effect is textbook tanking.

I'm sure kid Sanders is a good QB prospect but seeing his name grouped together with a Manning and one has to wonder what is the connection besides their famous family names? Pedigree shouldn't influence anyone's decision. The stuff I read on IG or FB is crazy talk.

TBH I would steer far away from a child of Deion Sanders. This fanbase hate showboats and his father was one of least classist players I have ever seen in the NFL. Deion was also so obsessed with money (remember his rap video and Pizza Hut commercials with Jerrah?) that he drew a dollar sign in the batters box with his bat after he was called up to the Yankees. No one does that in baseball. So I would assume he would whine about money his entire time with the Giants.
Schoen and Daboll will not be around if they tank in 2025.

What is Tiki using as his criteria for saying that DJ doesnt have the "it" factor

Is he talking about game winning drives for example?  That would be subject to how the game has gone up till that point>

Maybe some QB's are not put in the position of needing to show the "it" factor as it relates to a game winning drive

I know that I am probably all wet  but is Tiki suggesting that when a player takes the field  he automatically takes over and carries the entire team with him?  I would suggest that there is one QB in todays NFL who does that --Mahomes

Keep in mind  JS and Dabs based their decision to retain DJ based largely on the season DJ had in 2022

For reference  he had 6 game winning drives--and if memory serves he had a game winning drive in the playoff win over the Vikes.

Lets be honest--how many of us felt pretty good about our QB situation after the 2022 season??

As I said  I may very well be misinterpreting Tiki's reasoning--but I am also old and wise enough to know that for every Tiki out there there is someone with the opposite view--hell, look no further than the BBH

I heard the entire show Dan. Tiki was frustrated that Jones didn't get his team in the end zone. Tiki was comparing him to Eli who did have "it". As a charter Jones apologist, I have to agree with him. But it's still early.

Please not them.

How about hiring Phil Simms, Eli. and Bill Belichick and put them in charge of finding us a potential franchise QB.

A new GM and HC can spend their time starting us out on a "new" rebuilding plan.

It's amazing talking about the IT factor just look at Kirk Cousins. Before this year most said no way would they want him. What about now?

I watched this guy close in slow motion and he looks off defensive backs almost every time and does so as he is dropping back at times. Those that say this skill is overrated should watch Cousins. Imagine having him with our offensive weapons and improved oline!

This IMO would be a disaster.

Well I'm sure Eli would be excellent because his Nephew would be directed straight to the Giants.

Next year there are no "it factor" QBs coming out. This coming year you pick up another top flight WR. We tank the hell out of next year. If we get the second third pick we do everything to get that top pick I don't care if we have to trade a few firsts round picks.

The formula is simple we hire Bill Belichick team him with Arch Manning. That's championship formula on the quick.

This is a weird take. There is no guarantee that the Giants can rig the draft for select Arch who may not even been the top QB prospect available and will still have eligibility to return to college in 2026. It is not a simple formula. Belichick is 72, 74 in 2026 which is way over the hill by NFL standards, and his coaching and GM record post Brady was awful.

Fair lol, yeah I am not in favor of that post. I agree BB is too old, and will only be older. And tanking for a guy who is still raw and inexperienced, because of his name alone would not have great chances of success.

Arch may end up a fine QB, but that is not much of a talking point imho until next CFB season. Hopefully we aren't still talking QBs to get then.

So basically you are saying everything would stay the same as it already is.

I mean, if you want to twist my words, sure?

I simply said that would be an awful idea having two people with zero scouting or FO experience and a 75 year old coach to take full control of the team.

If you do not like the current regime, that is fine, we all are entitled to opinions.

I personally still like Daboll and Schoen, and think they deserve a chance to keep on going with a QB of their choice that can actually run the offense they want to run.

A new QB I would not say is things staying the same.

Philosophers

It factor to me means in "hot, pressure, situations," a person's heart rate slows down, they remain calm, clear, quickingthinking with a confidence they can work the problem and execute successfully and if in a leadership role, they can lead others around them who trust and believe in them.

That's the quality of great Special Operations person in their environment, a QB in a game, etc.

Does DJ have them?  I dont believe he does.  It's the rare person that does.

AHEM, NOWHERE did I say in any way shape or form that I wanted them to take over the team.  Just evaluate the current college available QB's.   What, you want OUR scouting department to evaluate QB's ??

They would merely be a committee of 3 (scout in depth, analyze and give opinion to the powers that be) the current crop of college QB as it potentially translates to today's NFL.  Much like in 1979 when George Young and Ray Perkins personally scouted and worked out and analyzed Phil Simms, a sub .500 QB from a 1-AA college (Morehead State).

They would be the guys I want steering the QB selection, not our Moe, Larry, And Curly scouting department.  Use your experts, use your resources.  And that ain't Shoen or Daboll at this point.

To each their own, I respect and appreciate your reply an opinion, but I respectfully think very differently on the matter. As much as I love Eli and Simms, I do not think they are qualified for the task.

I also think Belichick offers little to anyone at this point.
