The SEC has been turned upside down today. It's going to be fun to watch what happens now.

Jolly Blue Giant

Picture of the day from the Bama/Vandy game...a 250 lb man - a Vandy fan in the audience - weeping uncontrollably, unable to pull it together, even though a couple of women are putting their arms around him to console him, but it didn't work. Great shot by the guy running the camera panning the crowd of fans. Now that's a fan! I've only cried once over a damn football game, and it was the exact moment I knew the Giants were going to beat the Patriots in the 2008 Superbowl...but I didn't weep like this guy. I just found tears running down my cheeks and unable to speak...in shock I guess, trying to believe it was happening
The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

Texas has to be #1 now? Right. How far back does Alabama slide? Ohio State, Oregan and Penn State should move up too

Texas will for sure be number one.

Not sure on Bama but assuming Tennessee beats Arkansas my guess is they'll be 6th or 7th next week?

Haven't seen tons of him. Has seemed pretty good from what I have watched.

Arkansas has dominated Tennessee despite the score right now.

And Texas v Oklahoma, the Red River shootout. Always a battle

Just to put what you just said into further perspective:

In 2001, the Giants actually drafted Vanderbilt's kicker, John Markham, in what was the most bizarre "they drafted who" moment in many years, at the time. Markham wasn't even on anyone's radar to be signed as a free agent after the '01 draft, much less get drafted! The Giants immediately realized their mistake and never even let the kid attempt a field goal inpre-season. He was just quietly released, and the Giants, to my knowledge, haven't drafted a Vanderbilt player since.

Vanderbilt is a doormat for the other big SEC teams and, in Tennessee, the only recognized football is the Volunteers' program, not the Commodores.

So, with all that in mind, this was an upset for the ages. This outcome just isn't supposed to happen. But it did, and 40 years of futility have been erased and supplanted by much joy and plenty of well-deserved tears.

Somewhere, in the Tennessee foothills, John Markham is smiling again.

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

And Tennessee goes down.

Big day for Ole Miss, as not only did they win big on the road against a respectable South Carolina team, but now all of the SEC powers now have one loss, not just them and UGA.

Will be interesting to see the rankings. Anyone want to guess what they look like? I'll go:

1. Texas
2. OSU
3. Oregon
4. PSU
5. Bama
6. UGA
7. Miami
8. Ole Miss
9. USC
10. LSU

Bill Brown

5 of the top 11 teams lost today. Upset Saturday for sure.

Kiss of Death. #1 has been a turnstile this season.

USC lost to Minnesota and they were number 11 last week. No way they are moving uo 2 spots . They will be moving down. I think Penn State will be number 3 ahead of Oregon and Miami could jump to number 5

I made a mistake on USC.. I forgot that they lost yesterday when I wrote that.

Re Miami, my only thing with them is they haven't beaten anyone yet. Top 5 could be tough. Moreover they only beat U Cal (who isn't bad but is far from great) by a point yesterday. Not sure they get to top 5 this week but it's possible. If you were ranked in the preseason and you're 6-0, with all these top teams losing a game now it's not clear there are many other options for the top 5.
