I recall saying, don't keep Seattle in the game because Geno can bring them back before you know what's happening. But in reflection, the minimum score should have been 36-13. Then the failure to convert TDs instead of FGs and this game should have been a blowout.

In another thread Daboll is being criticized for eating the clock in the 4th quarter and not going to his TE later in the game. Except he doesn't have the ball in his hands.

The Giants Defense played an excellent game. Both the Offense and Defensive game plans were very good. Seattle's Defense is definitely weak but the Giants took advantage of it. I think the Seahawks can catch the Niners in a funk.
All credit to the Giants defense, but I think Seattle shot themselves in the foot more often than not offensively. The game plan was disjointed. They played the game as if it was a trap game. The NFC West is wide open now. None of the teams are terrible, but none are great. Until the Niners get healthy they are far from a force. The NFC North is the best in the NFL right now. The NFC South is three deep but then a huge fall off with Carolina. NFC East, with the emergence of Washington is solid but not overpowering.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all shakes out in the last quarter of the season.

you could tell the last few games we were right there. sometimes teams have to "learn" how to win. i believe we are just getting over that hump now. we took a knockout shot on the first drive and maintained our composure and FINISHED. I kept screaming FINISH at the end of the game. I was convinced they were going to tie it to force overtime and lose another heart breaker. But they willed themselves to a win. its about the most satisfying one in years.

agreed for the most part. but jones is certainly making his case. His ball placement was elite yesterday. I counted 2 bad passes. That happens to every qb. His deep balls were perfect. His decision making was good. Seattle is a very good team and a very good defense. We absolutely took it to them. As many of us have been saying.. just get a reasonable oline. This is the best protection Jones has gotten in his career. I'm not sure he was even hit yesterday on a drop back. The job is his to lose.. i'd still like to see him turn it up even more. Obviously having nabers out there is always a plus, but its interesting to see how the game plan changes when he's out and we spread it around and succeed. They have to find a balance on this.

The OL is still a work in progress but in pass blocking it is a long way ahead of last year. If they can maintain more consistent run blocking game to game that will help us stay competitive most weeks. Really pleased to see JMS developing, helped by the experience either side of him. Hopefully we can keep the unit fit and they can continue to improve collectively.

I like this thinking and wholeheartedly agree

"Seattle is a very good team and a very good defense. We absolutely took it to them." They are not a very good defense. In fact, their defense is bad. The Giants actually should have scored many more points than they did against such a bad defense. It took a blocked field goal to win the game. But the team played well and dominated.

Quote from: katkavage on October 07, 2024, 05:19:40 AMI wouldn't gauge how close we are by this game. Seattle's defense was atrocious and it came down to a blocked field goal. Seattle has a very good QB, very good receivers, a decent running back, but a bad offensive line, a bad defense and a rookie head coach who was also bad today. Nice gutty win for the Giants in the road but I would only say that as long as the offensive line remains intact and plays at this level they will be very competitive.

A few points.  The Detroit game was an away game for the Seahawks.  The Seahawks have a huge defensive advantage at home.  Second, the Seahawks had a lot of defensive players get hurt in that game.  Many of those players returned for the Giants game.  Finally, it's not like the Giants didn't have their own handicap with the clear cut number one WR out as well as their starting RB.

I'm not taking anything away from the Giants offense and how it produced, but let's be real: that was a bad defense out there for Seattle. I wouldn't say Tracy was a handicap the way he played. He was a  big upgrade over Singletary whether planned or not. The win in a hostile environment was impressive but you can still be objective about what was obvious.

The Seahawks are the 10th highest defense yards/game and 18th in points/game

See who they played the first three games. Deceiving. They were bad yesterday.

I would have been utterly deflated if we had lost this game. Seattle had one of the worst scheduling disadvantages I've ever seen (they had one less day off, we had three extra days off, and they have a key divisional game coming up on Thursday(!).

Instead, we won, and I'm as proud to be a Giants fan as I have been since the last Super Bowl victory.

Only a GOOD TEAM can overcome a combination of all of the following: a 1st-quarter fumble resulting in an instantaneous 14-point-swing... on the road... in one of the worst venues for visiting teams... without their best player on offense... after traveling to the other side of the country... after losing a crucial divisional game in which they arguably out-played a team possessing superior personnel.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Bob,

I don't know any Giants pundit, Giants content creator, or NFL pundit who picked the Giants to beat the Seahawks (especially when it became known that Nabers would be out).

absolutely. the run game was gashing them all day. opens up everything. i believe jones 2 td passes were both on solid play actions.
