Same as the 1994 Cowboys-Giants regular season finale. At least the Giants were playing for a Wild Card spot if they won and a team or two lost. They did but were eliminated when Green Bay, I think, won their game.

Fast forward to opening night 1995. Same teams, same venue, ride the wave from that win, right?

0-35 Dallas with Emitt Smith putting the game away on the opening drive with that devastating TD run the Giants never recovered from. Though today wasn't quite as bad on the scoreboard, the whooping was equally as devastating.

It's time to face the sobering fact the rest of the NFC East is off to the races while the Giants continue to linger in the stable not knowing where the starting line is.

Yes, it IS that hopeless right now. A serious form reversal is the only hope of salvaging anything from what is turning into yet another lost season in the Wilderness Part Deux.

Do they still allow ticket burning in the urinals outside the stadium? Do they even have urinals outside the stadium anymore?

How about anyone's FAA pilot license. We can start a collection and donate it to the pilot and make a banner to fly over the stadium, or at least in its vicinity.

The problem is for every step forward you think they make they take three steps backwards.  Again, a handful of good players but hard to see what the long term vision is.

Keep fighting the good fight. It's been obvious for years. If they simply swap Jones for an average QB this team is competing. Slightly above average and it's a playoff team. It's a solid roster with an anchor around their necks at the QB position so bad that nothing else matters.

I think the Giants can be the kind of spot that would be great for a young QB. Get a QB and the Giants could be in a prime spot to take advantage of the rookie QB window.

I don't think that is true.  I think many are so focused on Daniel Jones that they fail to appreciate all the other flaws and weaknesses.

Well said.

I do think they need another CB, a new RG given GVRs age, and some better DT depth as well, but that can be address in a single offseason between FA and the draft. This is barring and pending FAs that they may want to retain.

But yes, the right QB makes alot of the pain go away, despite there being a few other needs. 

They have one of the worst QB rooms in the league.

I'm not too sure they can move in any forward direction until that is improved.

Worryingly, it looked like the top 10 defense just quit in the second half. So there are questions around the bright point of the team.

But it's not even Halloween and the season is pretty much done. There's plenty of blame to go around for that.

I feel like there are two camps.  One camp essentially blames everything on DJ and believes the team would be a contender if they replaced Jones with a new QB (who presumably would play at a franchise level).  The other camp sees DJ as but one of many problems this team has.

There are at least two more camps:

Those who believe no QB could succeed under the conditions Jones has played under. They believe Jones may become a star if he goes to a better organization.

Those who believe QB is the most important position on the field and that the Giants have been playing at a competitive disadvantage at that position for years. They believe there is some talent on the team and want to see what that talent is able to accomplish with a more competent QB.

Tyrod was clearly, significantly better than Jones and he knew it, but was a good soldier.

This the boat I'm in. This doesn't have to be a binary situation where the roster is either perfect or terrible. There are obviously issues beyond the QB, but the D-line and O-line were looking the best they have in a while. The secondary, while young, has shown promise and we have a legit #1 wide receiver for the first time since OBJ with solid complementary pieces.

That said, we are certainly not a perfect roster. Depth is a problem and we can probably use a true #2 receiver, another CB, and more youth for the O-line, but the roster probably has as much promise as it has had in a few years. I'd argue we are heading in the right direction and in a pretty good spot to take advantage of the rookie QB window if we were to draft one and have them hit this year.
