If Schoen is serious about winning, he trades Ojulari as soon as KT is healthy

I think Ojulari is about as good a pairing as you can get for Dex in the pass rush. They push the QB toward each other. When you add Burns it's been a pretty solid pressure group.



I don't see why they can't keep him. They can work it out. I have a very different mindset than most of you. I believe you do everything in your power to keep your best players. It was a mistake not using him while Thibs was healthy. They had four aces and instead did the Boogie.

Same with Slayton. He's been the most productive receiver the past several years. He's only 27.

The Jones contact set this team back years. They had to give up on Barkely and McKinney.

Now a designated post June 1st cut of Jones will free up enough money to keep your base and then some. Sign a Journeyman like Darnold for a reasonable contract and roll the dice for a QB. If you can't get your guy, draft Dart in round 2. Or go after Richardson because that moron of an owner will give him away. And if you don't win another game this year, you hit the lottery.

I think they can keep him and I completely agree that I hate giving up + players especially at certain positions.

I just have a hard time putting that much cap resources into one unit. 

It sure does make a young QBs learning curve shorter when he has a better team around him though.

You can laugh at me all you want, as I won't do that to you, but the facts remain the same, players who are young in their prime and who produce a big year in their contract year get paid handsomely.

This can actually be proven

A) Leonard Williams in his contract year put up 11.5 sacks and was paid handsomely.

B) Daniel Jones in his contract year played well and was paid handsomely.

There are countless examples, having a big year in your contract year as a young player always produces bigtime cash.

Ojulari will be no exception, as you will see the contract, he gets compared to the Uche player you provided.

But if you were Slayton and thought you could enter the upper ranks of receivers wouldn't you want to go to a better offensive team that could better bring out your talents?

And yes, they had to give up Barkley and McKinney and they got nothing for them.  The same is likely to happen with Slayton, IMO.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Barkley and McKinney would have brought in a second or third rounder and that's a different situation because their contracts were destined to be out of reach for what Schoen was willing to spend, although he could have kept Barkley. Ojulari and Slayton would likely be a 5th round pick. I also don't see their contracts being out of reach to resign. Slayton is a solid number two Receiver. Ojulari is a rotation player at the top of that group. He works well with other talent around him. He's not getting a Burns contract. Imo.

I don't know what Slayton would want to do but that's a good point. Especially if the team becomes dysfunctional, Daboll is canned and they have to start all over. I would go to the contender
