Quote from: Doc16LT56 on November 04, 2024, 09:15:28 AMGiants have some good players. They can't be properly evaluated until they have an NFL caliber starting QB. Bring in a proper QB and then see what you have.

Or... turn over the entire roster and coaching staff, again, and let's see if Jones can evolve into a winner by his 10th season. Rebuild, Rebuild, Rebuild

You can't evaluate the defense because you don't like Daniel Jones???

Quote from: TDToomer on November 04, 2024, 09:15:15 AMHow about the defense regressing? No pressure at all on Daniels. He could have made breakfast in the pocket. Poor tackling by the entire secondary outside of Pinnock. McFadden seems to be the only one who can make a solo open field tackle. Burns is looking like a bust. The losses of McKinney and Love in 2 consecutive season with weaker replacements is not working. At some point you need to stop letting our best players leave and replace them with rookies and barely tested role players.

Has anyone noticed that other defenses treat tread Daniel Jones like he is Aaron Jones when he takes off running like a running back? Our D treats a running QB like he is wearing a red contact jersey begging him to slide or run out of bounds. We does Jones get crushed but we can't touch a running QB?

Which means Daboll has no one left to throw under the bus (Wink and Kafka are really under the wheels)

Do you think there is a coach/GM combination out there somewhere that can make a champion out of DJ? If so, who and why?

What have you seen in DJ that shows he has proven he can be a champion?

The defense is NFL caliber. It needs to get better. That's a given for any defense. You're either getting better or you're getting worse.

The offense for years has been an embarrassment. They are last in scoring this season and on pace to finish bottom-3 in scoring for the 4th time in 6 years. This is not normal.

It's silly. Burns had a  sack in each of the previous 4 games and actually demonstrates a commitment to high standards rather than excuse making.

Chicken or egg? How do we know that the team wouldn't be better with a better QB.

Malik Nabers mentioned having the right players:

It was widely speculated that Daboll was calling plays, not Kafka.

You need to look past Daniel Jones.  Yesterday was a prime example of you focusing too much on Jones.  Jones played well yesterday, and they lost, and frankly, the game never was in doubt.

Do you think having a QB that puts points on the board more consistently on a weekly basis would help the defense, by not having to play from behind as often, and providing better game scripts? I do, so a QB does allow for some evaluation in my opinion. Maybe not a ton, but it helps put them in a better position to succeed, which makes a difference.

Part of why we are getting run on so bad is we are unable keeping up in points and it ruins the game script. We still need Thibs back and another DT to help some, but if we can't keep up with opposing offenses, it does not matter too much.

Interesting that the D has regressed soon after Thibs was out, its almost like he was a pretty well rounded player they are missing, but other are too fixated on sack totals and nothing else.

Yes, Jones was not a contributing factor in the loss yesterday. He played well enough for the team to win. No argument there.

Now look at the season as a whole: How many games can you say that about your starting QB?
