Quote from: Doc16LT56 on November 04, 2024, 09:26:45 AMIt's silly. Burns had a  sack in each of the previous 4 games and actually demonstrates a commitment to high standards rather than excuse making.

Banks not Burns! It's monday morning people. I have been a big Burns supporter here.  Redfaced

Quote from: T200 on November 04, 2024, 09:33:59 AMYes, Jones was not a contributing factor in the loss yesterday. He played well enough for the team to win. No argument there.

Now look at the season as a whole: How many games can you say that about your starting QB?

It's a give that the Giants will move on from Jones (they broke him, mentally and physically, beyond repair).  What seems to be up for debate is those who suggest most of the problems trace back to Jones (as your posts on this thread suggest).

I watched some of the game last night, and I agree, he was not the problem yesterday as well.

But that also does not mean he was a difference maker either (not claiming you think so).

We need a difference maker at the position.

I've said it before, Jones is a coach killer. Granted our last few coaches were world beaters but having Jones as their QB meant doom for them all. He is the constant.
As for the defense, losing breeds losing. If we were a winning team our defense would be too 10.
Give them something to play for and they would show up every week. Now they are just going thru the motions and that is on the coaching staff.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Yes, I agree it's up for debate because there are many professional analysts who did not think the Jones pick at #6 was warranted. The decision was not well-received. So yes, most of the problems with this offense trace back to his selection.

True, the Draftnik community did not identify Jones as a top QB.  They roasted the Giants for the pick because it embarrassed them.   In light of how many QBs they have swung and missed on, the Draftnik community is not one worth listening to.  The draftniks have the luxury of talking a lot with no real accountability (because they don't bring up their numerous misses).

I hope you're right. This organization needs a fresh start from the low standards of the Daniel Jones era. I also think Daboll is gone at the end of the season... unless they go on an unlikely winning streak. I just can't see him surviving back-to-back double digit loss seasons.

I don't disagree. But I also think it's a bit disingenuous when we quote them pre-draft and trash them post.

Until Jones goes you can keep changing HC's all you want, nothing will change. The D will still crowd the LOS, stop the run and short stuff, and force Jones to go deeper. Jones can't. They will also disguise coverages confusing DJ due to his slow recognition and forcing constant check downs. We won't score points, and the team will yearly lose confidence

Schoen and Daboll brought in Drew Lock as the backup (knowing Jones was coming off an ACL). What does that say about their ability to identify QB talent?

Jones has had 6 seasons and he's still given much leeway by you and others. Lock has been here all of four months and Schoen and Daboll are getting hammered for not being able to identify QB talent. My head is spinning.  :-??

Here's a thought:

The Commander's O-line coach is NYG fired Bobby Johnson.  How does his O-line give up zero sacks to the defense that is leading the league in sacks?

Tim,

Look, I am not Daniel Jones, no need to go after me. me.   The reality is, despite your claims that Jones is responsible for nearly all the team's problems, Lock can't sniff the field because he isn't nearly as talented as Daniel Jones.

The Giants could have brought in Flacco, Darnold, T2, or Winston (as examples). Instead, they brought in Lock.

Why can't I just talk to you without you feeling attacked? You have been one of DJ's biggest and consistent supporters. It's not an exaggeration and mentioning it is not an attack.

I will refrain from addressing you regarding Jones.  :ok:

Edit to add: The reason they didn't bring in any of those guys you mentioned is because they are better than Jones. Having them on the roster would have created a QB controversy and many more people clamoring for Jones to be benched in favor of one of those other guys.

Having Lock on the team as insurance (and a much lesser player than Jones) pretty much guarantees that Jones plays unless he gets injured. It also takes away any further excuses and shows Mara that Jones is not the answer.
