It's even sillier that you are now challenging me with the "you didn't answer the question"

Amazing way to still not state an opinion. It's that tough for you I guess.

If it will make your day-   DJ had a bad game in Germany.  Hell (as I posted) even DJ said he had a bad game.

I hope that makes you very happy.  I will say, DJ having a bad game didn't make me happy

Ironic, cause DJ also doesn't anticipate.

I feel nothing in terms of happiness (or sadness) and do not understand why I would. I do appreciate your discrete thoughts on Jones's play. Given our apparent agreement on Jones's play, if your question to me was meant to imply Daboll should have benched Jones due to the latter's poor play, I certainly misconstrued it.

If we are to give Daboll the benefit of the doubt, the reason he was playing DJ was he believed that DJ gave him the best chance to win.  I was almost anticipating a swap for the second half because the team needed a spark after a zero-point performance against a bad team in the first half.

I appreciate and agree with the injury clause, but as one pundit said, you agreed to the contract, so you live with the risk.  You expect your players to give their all.  In return, the players expect you to put them in the best position to win each week.  So, did keeping Jones as the starter for the second half give the team the best chance to win?

Hard to say if the alternative was Lock, because Lock is pretty awful. If we're talking about Lock, it's kind of a case of pick your poison.

With the way Jones was playing, I would argue DeVito might have given them the better chance of winning. From what we have seen of him, he is better than the level of play we were getting from Jones today.

I think it's crazy to continue to play Jones with a 2-7 and now 2-8 record. I see absolutely no sound reason to do so. It seems beyond absurd to me to do it given the risks. Hopefully they'll come to this conclusion during their extra week off tor this bye. For the sake of the best interests of the organization, I really hope today was his last game ever as a Giant.

The Saints fired Dennis Allen after losing to the Panthers

Dennis Allen left the Saints with a 18-25 record

Allen and Daboll were both hired in 2022

Daboll's record with the Giants  17- 26 - 1

I got mocked in the game thread for pointing out Jones is perhaps the worst starting QB the NY Giants have ever had.

I like Dave Brown better and that says a lot.

My issue with the "Lock is worse" reasoning is that Jones looked terrible today.  If you don't believe your backup QB could play better than what we saw from Jones in Germany, what does that say about your ability to acquire talent?

I have no problem with the team benching Jones, but I think it comes a half too late.  I have serious doubts about DeVito reigniting the magic of those 3 wins last season, as witnessed by DeVito sitting on the Giants PS with no team even trying to add him to their roster.

No, you posted about Jones after I said there were fans so focused on Jones they were missing how badly the defense was playing.  To prove my point, you ignored the touchdown the defense just gave up to a pathetic Panthers' offense to post yet another complaint about Jones.

Narratives have to be driven.

Posters can't be wrong.  This is where we are.

Narratives, man.

Whether DeVito can be better than Jones or not doesn't personally matter to me. The main reason to be benching Jones at this point is risk mitigation around the injury clause. At 2-8 the season is obviously over. Parsing which of these three QBs is the least bad is of secondary importance, and I would say it is distant secondary importance. It's time to start thinking about what is best for the franchise over the medium term. Risking Jones getting a serious injury just seems beyond foolish to me. I cannot think of a single intelligent reason to do that.

I don't disagree with your assertion.

Thanks Rich. You know what, after much thought, I now realize you're  right!

What coach that is available is better than Daboll right now?

Schoens classes are getting better, his trades have been great, and FA has Been great.

I trust Daboll with a new qb more than anyone that will be available as he hasnt been able to run his own offense since he got here.

I would say Schoen's trades have been mixed:

Bad

Waller and Boogie trades and trade up for Banks and Simmons

Good

Trading away Toney and Leo

Mixed

Burns trade

Bad trades not made

Barkley, McKinney, and possibly Ojulari

First two draft classes poor

I think class three is better, but I am growing concerned about Nabers, and without him the class isn't as impressive.

I will grant you that DJ may have limited what Daboll wanted to do (but I have to think Daboll had a say in retaining DJ after he was a free agent).
