That could be the case, which means let us see how many games Schoen and Daboll win of the last seven with their "best QB".

If the Giants go 0-7 in the last 7 games and Schoen and Daboll can't blame Daniel Jones, it would seem reasonable to believe that Mara and Tisch would have to consider if the team that assembled a 2-15 team 3 years after inheriting a 4-13 team that the leadership may not be capable of turning the ship around.

Rich,

I think that's a valid point.  I realize many are rooting for 2-15 and that's expected at this point.  Just not sure how this all shakes out in the locker room.

The idea that Daboll is definitely safe seems tenuous to me at best. If they go 1-6 over these last 7, what is that going to look like on the field?  While fans in some polls gave a positive vote for Daboll, it likely won't appear that way in the stadium if for instance, the Saints come into NJ and beat the Giants in a lopsided game.

Then you get into things like if other vets are going to be shut down which gets into things like contract bonuses potentially being missed.  Which then gets into some potential locker room issues.

I am not saying that I think either Daboll or Schoen is gone after the year, just that its not as simple as fair/unfair or vote of confidence after week 10.  A lot can and will happen over the next 7 weeks, not much is expected to be good.

Still blaming everyone else for poor QB play. It is relentless from you.You still can't understand that Jones is a bum, and since you rooted for him all along, you just need others to blame, now its Daboll and Schoen.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Len,

It's interesting how angry you got so much that you felt the need to go after me on a personal level just for suggesting the IDEA that Schoen and Daboll be held accountable for their job performance.  I won't disagree that Jones is shot, and it's time to bench him.  I do disagree with your efforts to give Schoen and Daboll a free pass just because they didn't change the QB they inherited.  Hell, Schoen and Daboll even signed Jones to the $40 million per year contract.  From where I stand, it's impressive the mental gymnastics required to blame everything on Jones but not assign any responsibility to the guys who signed Jones to his veteran contract, passed on drafting QB on this draft, and even passed on Russel Wilson and instead signed Drew Lock.   But hey,  you do you Lenny

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on November 18, 2024, 12:24:58 PMWow. It's completely over.

Phew.

As stated earlier in this thread, this represents the logical choice to avoid the pressure of reinserting him into any game.  It's over, as you perfectly stated, Ed

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 18, 2024, 12:25:29 PMIt won't be a tough decision to bring in Lock in a second half if things go badly. They are officially done with Jones with this decision.
DJ had 10 games to prove he could win. Even if DeVito stinks up the joint, there's no evidence that Jones will make a difference.

Come on, Lenn. They have culpability too. As does the Owner.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 18, 2024, 12:41:43 PMFrom what I have seen from John Mara he wants to win. He doesn't care if the wins are meaningless or hurt the team's draft status.  So I have to think: before Mara signed off on DeVito, he asked his team, "Does DeVito give the Giants the best chance to win?"

While we can give a wink and a nod to "roster evaluation", I can't imagine Mara falling for such a claim.  Don't forget the last 7 games are also an evaluation of the GM and HC.
"Roster evaluation" is the public reason.

Mara knows exactly why Jones is being benched.

For the future good of the franchise they need to lose every game.

True, but the Giants can't say they are benching Daniel Jones because of his contract, as former GM Mike Lombardi pointed out.  As Mike said, the Giants don't want to have a grievance filed against them by the NFLPA.

I think we're all in agreement on that. Stevie Wonder can read between the lines.

They can't shoot themselves in the foot by saying something stupid and they can't jeopardize their draft position by doing something like winning meaningless games.

Adios, Jones! Should've happened years ago.

Exactly.   Football is a business and Tommy will put people in the seats for the rest of year and Mara Tech won't be faced with an empty stadium the last couple of home games .
